Niall's P.O.V
Libby and her big brown eyes are set on my face while I put up her shitload of hair, it's wavy, thick and long, and it almost popped the hair band. I watch her hands come up to my face and she touches my eyes with my fingers and I flinch back because she poked me in the eye and didn't even notice.
"Why are your eyes so blue?" Libby asks me with this big ass bun sitting on top of her head. I'm sure is weighing her down..
"My mom and dad have them, so I have them."
"Why are your eyes brown?" Libby asks my girlfriend when she comes back.
I forgot how confused four year olds are. Libby turns around in my lap, getting up and walks over to Alex to sit in hers, putting her hands in her face. I nod at Alex, asking her if she's okay because she took a while in the restroom. She shrugs and goes back to focusing on Libby, I know she isn't fine, but if I tell her she'll deny it.
"My parents have brown eyes." Alex answers her and Libby smiles, eating more candy.
"Why are your eyes brown?" Alex asks, and I notice Libby chew slower, Alex can only see Libby's back because of the way she's sitting in her lap. Alex wraps her arms around Libby's torso and she shrugs.
"You don't pay attention to the color of their eyes?" I hand her more Skittles and she shakes her head no about her parents.
"Babe, how do you not know? They're over there right?" Alex smiles behind Libby, gesturing to the waiting room for parents.
"She's crying." I mouth to Alex and she looks over her shoulder and sees her wiping her cheeks off, putting more candy in her mouth.
"Are your parents not in here?" Libby shakes her head no, slowly eating more Skittles and when her hair band pops, she doesn't even flinch. Her hair falls down and I expected her to tuck it behind her ear or move it somehow to get it out of her face, but she doesn't.
"You'll see them when you get home, Libby. It's okay." Alex moves her hair out of her face for her when she starts sniffing quickly and whining, trying not to cry loudly.
"They're waiting on you at home, okay?" Libby's cries escape her immediately, her unchewed candy falling out of her mouth while she begins to sob.
"I don't know what to do!" Alex mouths to me when Libby's cries get louder.
"Libby," She looks up at me when I call her name, I reach my arms out to her and she runs to me. I nod to Alex that Libby's fine with me, then grab her tiny body and she falls into my lap with her arms around my neck, tightly. I almost start coughing because she's practically choking me. She reminds me of Elle when she was a baby, as long ago that was, I still remember it.
I pick her up, holding her against my chest and walk out of the pool room and go outside. The swinging bench is a bit far from the pool, but I walk over to it anyway and sit down.
"Spit those out before you choke on them." She sits on my lap with her legs in the seat, I put my arm around her shoulder and she leans her side into my chest. She shakes her head no, still crying and popping more in her mouth. I didn't even notice she still had some.
"Libby, spit them out." She puts more in her mouth, not even chewing them, so I raise my hand up a put it to her mouth. I can't say it in a rude demanding voice or she'll just cry even harder and probably run off.
