Liam POV
As I glared at her, I couldn't help but smirk... It's like a whole different side to us.
I nodded and went to her bedside, awkwardly climbing on as she chuckled. I slid my body close and comfortably, and I felt like a giant next to Kelsey's shrinking frame.
"I knew them better," Essie murmured, and we both looked at her, Niall raising an eyebrow at her.
"We'll see about that later," he said confidently.
"What?" Kelsey asked in confusion. Essie and Niall chuckled.
"Inside Joke," she replied, the two giving each other a weird gaze. There was a small silence except for the T.V.
"So, I'm just going to be straight out. You guys make out- I mean, make-up already?" Essie blurted, her face reddening as Niall looked at her with an ' You blew it' look. I felt my face redden and I looked away, smirking for some odd reason.
Kelsey let out a laugh.
"Yeah," she nodded, and I looked back at her, and she turned to me, a satisfied smile on her face. I grinned back.
"Yeah to making up, or making out," Niall snickered, and I threw him a gaze, before watching Kelsey's face fall from a smile to a blank expression as she thought.
To lighten up her sudden sullen mood, we talked about our memories, and we all had a few good laughs. It was an amazing time, happy, despite where we were.
At one point, I wrapped my hand around her shoulder to get more comfortable, and she didn't seem to mind.. It was like the old times, even better actually... I loved this..
Then Kelsey's laugh died out as she looked at the clock.
"Hey, don't you have practice today?" she turned to me, her blue eyes troubled. I looked up at the clock, it's almost six. I nodded, but I smiled reassuringly.
"It's not a big deal, one day won't hurt," Her face lit up at my words, before they fell back down as she looked at the door.
"You should go, Liam. You have to be ready for the tournament," she sounded upset at her own words, but I knew she was trying to get me to leave for something else.
"Do you want me to leave?" I asked as I sat up, and her face looked indecisive. I rose an eyebrow.
"Kelsey, if you want me to go, I'll go," I said softly, understanding.. though it kind of broke my heart... Maybe she still held a grudge, and she had every right to. I stood off the bed, and she grabbed my wrist.
"I really don't want you to go, but I don't want you to see me..." she frowned as she held in a tear, before she silenced as she looked at the door.
"Ms. Diamonds, the nurses are ready to give you the injection..." I turned to find the doctor with her clipboard, before she looked around the room, a look of apology.
"Sorry guys, but only one person can be in here for the procedure," she shrugged, looking at Kelsey. I looked back at her, and I knew what Kelsey was talking about now.. She doesn't want me to see her get hurt, because she already knows it's going to hurt me.
She looked down, her face saddened as Niall stood, as well as Essie.
"Can I stay with you?" I asked, looking at Kelsey cautiously, waiting for her to reject it. Her head shot up, and her eyes were surprised, but thankful.
"Are you sure, you don't have to if you don't want to," she said as Niall and Essie walked out, and the nurses brought in like five different instruments. Just the thought of Kelsey in pain, because of me, made me so guilty. I turned to her, with a smile.
"Kelsey, I'm not a child. I'm a man," I chuckled, and she smiled so brightly, it made my heart flutter.
The nurse closed the door and Kelsey signaled for me to sit beside her. When we both caught a glimpse of the four inch needle that she assured would be injected into her kidney to stop the surrounding swelling, I had really wished that I was in her place...
She looked back at me as she turned to her side, her eyes trying to hide pain and fear. I held her hand, squeezing it. As they kind of removed the hospital gown to the side, I caught a glimpse of the blue underwear that lay against her hip, and I immediately looked down at the floor.
"Liam?" she murmured softly, and I looked at her face, that now revealed the fear she had as the nurse readied the injection.
"Distract me." she bit her lip, and her eyes furrowed together. I became a bit frantic, because I'd do anything for Kelsey, I know it..
"Like, what.. um," I looked around, thinking as the nurses looked at me, smiling as they patiently waited. They new it was going to hurt her.
"Can you sing for me?" she asked, and I stopped fidgeting to look at her.. She smiled.
"I.. I don't sing," I laughed, and she gave me a stern look.
"Liam, you tried out for X-Factor a few years ago, and made it to Simon Cowell's house in Barbados, sing for me please," she said as she flinched, the nurse's patience dying out as they wiped the side of her hip down with alcohol.
I laughed, and nodded, holding her hand tight, glaring only at her beautiful blue eyes as I sang the first song that came to mind.. Haven't met you yet by Michael Buble.
Her eyes closed as she bit her lip harder, a tear running down her face as she tried to stay still, I watched the needle sink in, and I bent down to her ear, kissing her temple softly.
I whispered, and I could feel her smile against my cheek, and the feelings erupted in my body, and I wished that I had never stopped this closeness between us for so many years.
And I know that we can be so amazing,
and being in your life is going to change me
and now I can see every single possibility
I couldn't help but smile, because I knew I was staying positive, as I found myself falling hard for Kelsey, just like before, just like now.
