KELSEY POV
"No," I blurted. I had to go and take my medication, because I had completely forgot about it last night...
He gave me this look of disappointment, before his eyes scanned me in suspicion. I knew he wanted to know what was going on, but I just..
I just didn't want to tell him.
I didn't want to tell him that I had around nine to ten months until my kidney would give up on me. Or the fact that I can have a sudden heart attack and die at any moment since I forgot to take my medication.
"Kelsey, just tell me what's wrong," he sighed, looking around the cafeteria, finding nosy eyes glaring at us. I felt the knot in my throat again.
I rose an eyebrow, trying to get him off of my back. I reached for the Dark Vader helmet again, and slid it back on before grabbing my backpack and tightening it around my shoulder. Let's get rid of this tense atmosphere, yeah?
"Liam, nothing's wrong.Don't worry about it, babe," I said a little too softly, turning my back on him as I began walking out of the cafeteria.
I knew he was going to follow me, but I also knew that I could stall in my locker until the bell rang, then I could take the meds during class. No one would notice.
I walked out into the fresh air of the hallway, humming as I heard Liam's steps close behind.
He then slid into view, blocking me from moving any forward. He grabbed the helmet and took it off, his brown eyes dark, his thick eyebrows furrowed together.
"Kelsey, enough playing around. I'm worried, why are you hiding something from me," he murmured, sliding the helmet under his arm.
"I'm not hiding anything, Liam. I already said I'm fine," I tried to walk around him, getting a little agitated that he kept on the same subject. He huffed, walking beside me, his glare intense on my face.
"Kels, you're a horrid liar," he chuckled lightly, though his tone seemed serious. I stopped where I was, looking up at him. I seriously did not want to talk about this anymore.
"Liam, let it fucking go. I did what I did, just be happy with that, yeah?" I blurted a little too rudely. That was definitely uncalled for, my fault. He rose an eyebrow in shock, his lips parting in disbelief. I sighed, closing my eyes, opening my eyes to apologize.
"Excuse me? Kelsey, it's not like I wanted you to do that for me. You're so stubborn sometimes, you know? What you did, is what you did, but that's the last thing I would have wanted you to do...so don't brag about it," he replied defensively.
"BRAG?" I scoffed. His eyes came back to me, his angry features lightening up into one of realization of his words.
"I'm sorry you feel that way," I said sarcastically, snatching my helmet from his grasp. I walked around him, the sudden feeling of disappointment dawning over me again.
"Kelsey, wait," I heard him call. I was going to stop and turn around, before the lunch bell echoed through the halls. I continued walking, not wanting to miss the chance to get down my medication as soon as possible.
I was so glad I had my back to him, because I just wanted to cry, my heart breaking at his words.. The insincerity to everything I did...
He was the reason for the little happiness I actually enjoyed now..
Yet, I still refuse to let him know that he's the reason I'm dying.
