Liam POV
"Liam, Manager's calling you," my friend Dillan patted me as he walked by. I turned from my leg workout, and let out a sigh.
Guess the time is now. I put down the fourty pound dumbells I held in my gloved hands, and cleaned the sweat off of my forehead.
Picking up and packing my things, I walked out of the gym, and headed into the direction where Amanda and her father were standing, conversating.
I stood where I was, huffing in a sigh as I nodded.
"You wanted to speak to me?" I said softly, raising an eyebrow as I quickly sent a gaze at Amanda, her face deviously happy.
"Yeah, actually. I just-" David's grey eyebrows lifted as he looked beside him, at Amanda.
"Can I speak to him alone?" he said a little annoyed. Amanda huffed, looking at me as I shrugged.
"Sorry," I apologized for the break-up. Feels weird to call her my ex. She rolled her eyes and stomped away. I looked back at my manager, who watched his daughter walk away.
"I hope whatever happened between you two doesn't affect your performance, Payne," he said harshly. I rose an eyebrow, and his grey eyes gazed at me, intimidatingly.
"Excuse me?" I murmured. I thought he would have forced me to quit or something.. because that's kind of what I wanted to happen.
"Liam, you're the star of this place. I've had my eye on ya ever since Amanda did," he huffed. He does not know how weird he sounded right now.
"You gotta win that tournament, because right now, you're pretty much my promotional team of the business," he laughed, and I furrowed my eyebrows angrily.
He seriously just admitted to using me..
"So, you're using me to make your business look better?" I replied, offended. His smile disapeared.
"No, no, no. I was just kidding-" he began. I looked away angrily, guess my plans were still for a go.
"You know what, David. I think I'm done here," I stated decisively. I never wanted to box, but Amanda had told me that it'd help my health, and that it would be fun.
She was half right. I got the body I had worked hard for, but every punch I gave hurt me, and the ones I recieved back from my opponent was not anywhere near fun.
He froze, angry now.
"You can't just end it like that, Payne. What are we suppose to do without each other?" he tried to make it seem like there was some sentimental value to this whole deal. I walked away and headed for the exit.
"David, I got other stuff to prepare for, " I called back, smiling with a wave. He waved his hands in confusion.
"What the hell do you have to prepare for, Liam? You only got the smarts and strength," he replied. I laughed.
"I got to go practice for X-Factor with a few friends of mine, do something I actually enjoy," I said blissfully, so glad I had Kelsey to support me on this dream I actually want.
"Singing again? What a wimp," he yelled now. I lifted my hand as I opened the door, and flicked him off.
"Thanks for the fitness tips," I finished, grabbing my phone to call up Kelsey so we can hang a bit.
Never have I felt so free... but the best feeling is... is how in love I am with my best friend.
"Hello?"
"Hey Kels," I couldn't help but smile when her soft tone answered softly. I jumped into my car.
"You busy?" I ask when she gave an awkward laugh.
"No, come over... Wait, but aren't you? Don't you have practice?" she asked, her sudden excitement turned to disappointment.
"Nope, I quit the membership, " I smirked as I turned the engine on. I rolled my eyes when she began freaking out, asking why.
"Calm down, I have a better plan," I chuckled.
"And what is that?" she asked in a curious tone. Man, why did I feel like this now? Her voice literally just turns me on.
"You're going to help me get Niall, Zayn, Louis, and Harry to audition for X-Factor," I smiled at the thought.
She laughed, agreeing.
"I'll see you right now then, Kels." I drove down the familiar path, excited to srart thia journey again.
"Okay, I'll be waiting," she replied. I was about to hang up.
"Liam?" she suddenly blurted. I could hear the blissfullness in her tone.
"Yes, love?"
"I have a good feeling about this," she murmured.
"Me too," I finished.
