Kelsey POV
"He's dating who?" Essie coughed as we walked to lunch. I nodded, not wanting to repeat myself. I don't know why, but I just felt so hurt with the fact at what Liam was really doing..
He hated me, because he loved Amanda, because she hated me.
That is just a new low for Liam. Seriously.
Essie looked at me as we walked to get our lunch. I grabbed my typical green salad with two waterbottles as Essie grabbed some pasta. Ugh, wish I could have pasta, but I have a doctors appointment today and they said to keep it light...
"Are you jealous?" Essie whispered curiously. I whipped my head to her, giving an 'are you fucking serious' look. She shrugged her shoulders defensively.
We sat, and Essie began to talk shit about Amanda, and I remained quiet, I didn't really want to think about how betrayed I felt. Around five minutes later, Essie's gaze moved behind me, and her tan cheeks reddened.
"Horan in 15 seconds," she murmured awkwardly. I rose an eyebrow, confused.
"Hey Kelsey, you mind if I join ya' for a minute?" the heavy Irish accent took me by surprised as I looked beside me, Niall standing with his plate of lunch.
"Uh, sure," I agreed a bit bewildered, but then Essie nervously scooted over, and Niall sent her a warm smile, sitting beside her. Something was up with these two, and I didn't quite want to know..
I glared at him as he opened his soda and took a bite of his pizza. I looked around the cafeteria, the other douche bags no where in sight.
"They went out to eat today, I didn't want to go," Niall murmured as he chewed his food, taking a drink of his soda.
Essie sent me a look, before shrugging. I went ahead and ate a piece of my salad.
"Um, I actually came here to apologize about earlier," he had began as he eyed his food. I stopped chewing, and looked up at him. Apologize?
"I mean, Liam was acting like a complete arse," he took a bite of his pizza, as he casually explained.
"Thanks, but I think I'm pretty used to it," I coughed a laugh as I stabbed the bitter lettuce that I was getting tired of.
"Oh," he rose an eyebrow, before looking down at my food, literally just tomatoes and pieces of green. "Well, he's confused," Niall quickly blurted before changing subjects.
"You vegetarian or something?"
"No, she probably has some blood test due after school again," Essie said casually, I threw her a glare, but she was looking to the other side of the room.
I quickly gazed to find Amanda and Liam entering back with bags of fast-food.
Still so careless about his health, so ridiculous.
"What? Again? Kelsey, are you doing okay?" I turned my attention back to Niall who had stopped chewing, his eyes concerned as he scanned me.
"I mean, not to be rude or anything, but you look a lot more... fragile then before," he gave me a strange look. I shrugged, eating my salad before smiling.
"That's what losing three stones does," i huffed, and he cracked a smile, before it disappeared as he looked behind me.
"Niall, brought you a fish and chips if you still want it," Liam's voice was blank, and I turned to see Amanda in front of him, glaring at me with a fake smile.
"Oh, cool. Thanks, lad, but I'm already eating. I'll save it for later though," he smiled, and Liam seemed tense as he passed the bag to him.
"Alright, see you around, bro," Liam threw a look at me before looking at Amanda. As I glared, Amanda purposefully dropped my waterbottle onto the floor. So damn childish.
"My bad," she smiled, and I looked at her, not seeming to care anymore.
"Knock it off, Amanda," Liam quickly replied harshly, picking up the water, before he froze at her glare, and tossed it onto the table, where it rolled to Essie..
At that point, where I noticed my old best friend stand up for me, only to treat my like an animal.. Knowing that I have sacrificed so much for him...
It actually made me want to cry.
I looked at Niall as they walked away, and his face studied mine, a bit of disapointment.
"How long has he been with that demon for?" Essie growled, I could see she was tempted to get up and beat the shit out of her.
"Maybe like 3 months, since that party I invited you to, remember," He looked at Essie, responding as if he's known us forever. She rolled her eyes in disgust, and Niall grabbed the water bottle near Essie and looked back at me.
"I'm sorry, are you okay?" he placed the bottle beside me. Before I could respond, my phone began to vibrate, and I looked at the caller ID.
I rose an eyebrow, looking at Essie as my heart began to flutter a little. I picked up.
"Hello?"
"Ms.Diamonds?" she asked professionally, just to make sure it was me.
"This is she?"
"Yeah, Kelsey, I need you here as soon as you can. Your tests just came back... and we need to discuss some things," her voice was unsure, and my heart sunk.
"Good or bad?" I breathed.
"Well, not so good," she sounded upset. I closed my eyes, the feeling of crying already there from Liam, and even closer to coming out because of this.
"I'll be right there," I coughed and I hung up.
"Everything okay?" both Niall and Essie asked, they looked at each other and smiled, before turning back to me. I stood up, throwing away my salad.
"Doctor wants me sooner," I shrugged, giving her the ' oh well' look. Essie's face dropped into a grimace and she stood up.
"What do you mean?" her voice heightened, and I looked at Niall who looked at Essie with sympathy, before looking at me with concern.
"Just a check up, Essie. Don't worry," I turned and walked away, knowing that I sucked at lying.
I caught a glimpse of Liam's brown angry eyes.. before I shuffled out to the office to sign out.
As I did, I couldn't help but sniffle, at everything. At life.. I could feel it setting in, that feeling of confusion, of just thoughts that made me pity myself. No, Kelsey. Stay positive...
.....
"14 months?" I repeated blankly as I looked at the ceiling, holding in tears..
"At most," she replied.
I was dying, I knew it.. just by the way my doctor said it assured that.
And was it then that those dark thoughts over shadowed my life, thoughts of Liam, of Amanda, of my health.
I could feel it..
I'm falling into depression, if I'm not there already.
