Kelsey POV
"Well, I'll just come and say it that Liam and I-" I began, not even thinking of even trying to think about what I was about to do.
"-can't seem to find a reason as to why we're ever going to be apart again... because-" Liam suddenly cut me off. I turned to look at him, confused.
"Well, because Kelsey was my Kidney Donor all this time," that took me by complete utter surprise. My stomach dropped as everyone's breath froze for a moment of silence.
Before they all started to question.
"Wait, what?" Nicola blurted in confusion
" It was Kelsey? How do you know?" Ruth said afterwards.
"Liam, how long have you known?" Mr.Payne said harshly.
"Diane, is this true?" Mrs.Payne's voice overlapped everyone else.. We all turned to my mom, who's face had reddened, her eyes staring at Liam before looking at me, her mouth pouting as if she was going to cry.
"Diane," Mr.Payne said softly, as Mrs.Payne held my mother's shoulder... Please don't-
"Yeah, it is," she breathed, and my stomach dropped again once everyone's eyes fell onto me.. Liam held my hand tighter than usual.
"That's why she didn't go to Liam's operation, Nicola," Liam's sister murmured to the side, all their eyes wide and gleaming.
"Oh my god, Kelsey. I-. I have no words-" Mrs.Payne stood up, her eyes streaming with tears now as she walked to my side.
I stood up and she embraced me in a tight hug, everyone looking at us in awe. I was not expecting this. I did not want this.
"Are you okay?" she looked up from my shoulder, her eyes glaring at me in awe. I glanced at Liam, disapointment in my eyes.
I nodded, "Of course. Never better," I said softly, the sarcasm too thin to notice. Liam looked away then, pursing his lips.
He knows I'm not.
"Kelsey, we cannot thank you enough for what you've done," she kissed my cheek again, and then everyone got up and group hugged me.. Liam watching me with a faint smile that didn't match his eyes.
"So, was she the one that suddenly motivated you to go audition with all the lads next week, too?" Nicola replied with a laugh. Before me and Liam kinda chuckled at the same time.
"Yeah, she kind of was. She's been having little practice sessions at her house," they all looked beyond surprised, and in awe.
"Well, Kelsey. I can't tell you enough how much of an angel you are to us. We really hope you'll be there on Thursday?" Mrs.Payne looked at my mom for approval. I followed her gaze, and my mom sighed, giving me a small shrugg with an apologetic look, before nodding. I smiled.
"That's great. You know, to be brutally honest, I always rooted for you two. Ever since you guys were kids, it always came out as a possibility, and it did. I'm glad, I really am glad you guys are still together," Mr.Payne sniffled a bit, emotional..
They better stop or else I'll start crying too, and that can ruin everything.
"I agree, I never thought Kelsey would open up to someone so well. She was always so to herself when she was a kid," my mom added in.
"As well as Liam," Mrs.Payne responded.
It felt kinda' nice talking about our childhood, because all together, it was a pretty good one. And if i think about it, it was so cherish able because Liam and I held all the memories mostly. The memories were all I was going to have... for the next few months..
Thinking about the past just made me want to cry now, because it was when everything was perfectly fine... This moment could be perfect, but it's not... And we all know why not- I'm still fighting for my life.
"Well I'm just so excited to be there when Liam auditions again. I have a really good feeling about the boys this year," I ended with a sigh.
They all agreed, until Mr.Payne sat up besides his wife, and looked at me with a very satisfied expression.
"Kelsey, you are the only thing that keeps Liam strong. I couldn't have wanted anyone better, darling." I felt flattered, until he then turned his gaze to Liam, dead straight in the eyes.
"Liam, you better not let her go again," he deadpanned. I couldn't help but giggle, because he really seemed serious.
"I won't ever, dad." Liam murmured softly, tightening his grip until I felt his lips softly press against my temple.
I couldn't help but sigh... I had already accepted it by now... and I was just hoping that he would eventually let me go... because I knew I'd have to let him go.
When I go.
