A Country Girl.

chapter 2

Ty and me were still on the edge of the woods helping peach. After three hours it was dark but peach finally had her baby and like he said Ty was there the whole time helping me. When we finally got home it was morning and me and Ty were so tired and so was peach and her baby boy.

"Where were you two? you were gone all night grandpa and I were so worried!" Amy said as we walked in the door. " peach had her baby and we couldn't get her back before dark." I answered " what?! she had her baby last night and you took care of her by your self? " she asked " yes she did and she was amazing." Ty said as he looked at me with a smile. " yes I did but not all by my self, Ty was there to help" I said as I looked back at Ty with a smile. "Sooo, you two were out there at night by yourselves?" Amy said jokingly and me and Ty looked away from each other our faces red with embarrassment "nothing happened between us" I answered my face still red. "I know I was just joking, I know neither of you would do anything like that , now sit down and eat you look hungry."
After me and Ty ate breakfast we went to get some sleep.

"So I heard that there's a dance this weekend in town and thought you'd want to go." Amy said as she watched me do the rest of my chores the next day "why would I want to go to a dance when I don't have a dress or a date and I have to much work to do here?" I said as I hung bridals on hooks in the tack room " well I was thinking if you wanted to go you could borrow one of my old dresses and why not ask Ty since you've been spending lots of time with him and all and you seem to like him" Amy said as she walked into the tack room from to doorway. "I don't like Ty and he wouldn't want to go to a city dance anyway" I said. I looked at the floor to hide the red in my face from Amy as I walked past her to go feed the horses. The truth was I really did like Ty but I don't know if he feels the same way. "How do you know you didn't ask him." Amy said as she chased me "fine I'll ask him the day before if he doesn't ask me first." I said "yay thanks sis and if he does ask you then tell me so I can get you a dress." Amy yelled as she ran back to the house " I will" I yelled back.

The next day I was fixing the broken fence in the front pasture from a horse trying to run away. "Hey Hailey" Ty says as he walked up to me "hey Ty what's up" I said turning around to face him. He looked nervous and that rarely happened. "so there's this dance this weekend in town and I was wondering if you'd want to go with me." Ty said as he looked me in the eyes I knew he really wanted me to say yes. "Sure that would be fun." I said "really you mean it!?" Ty said eyes wide open "of course I mean it I wouldn't of said it if I didn't mean it" I said "I know I just didn't think you'd say yes Since its in town and you don't like going to town unless you have to" Ty said " well I did so you can stop freaking out." I said smiling at Ty " right well I have to go find my tux before the dance so bye" Ty said as he ran to the house to get his truck "bye" I yelled back. When he was in the truck and started down the driveway, I screamed and ran to the house.

"Aahhhhhh" Amy screamed when I told her that Ty asked me to the dance. "I thought you said he wouldn't want to go?" She said after she stopped screaming "I didn't know" I said as I sat on Amy's bed " well either way we need to find you a dress." Amy said as she looked through her old cloths that she didn't wear "now you would look fine in red but I don't think that's a good color for a dance like this one" Amy said , throwing dresses on the floor "how about I look for a dress I like? since I am the one wearing it" I said as I picked up the dresses on the floor and laid them on the bed "fine but I was helping you." Amy said as she sat on the bed and looked at me angrily.

" how about this one" I asked Amy as we looked around the store. "I don't think that's a good color on you" Amy said. We couldn't find a dress in Amy's cloths that we both liked so we went to town the next day and looked at every shop in town and couldn't find a dress. "How about this one?" Amy yelled from across the store "no to short and bright." I said.

We spent the whole day looking for a dress and tomorrow is the day of the dance. " what about this one." I asked as I walked up to Amy with a dress in my arms " I don't know how about you try it on?" Amy suggested "Sure" I said. I went to the dressing room in the back of the store and tried the dress on. The dress was a long dress, it was navy blue with a slight sparkle to it and a slit in the side that went to my knee . "What do you think?" I asked Amy as I walked out of the dressing room "you look amazing and beautiful Hailey Ty is going to love it." Amy said "You really think so" I asked " of course" Amy said smiling at me "thanks" I said smiling back.

Amy and me went back to the farm and went to put my dress in the closet. "I can't wait till tomorrow night." I said to Amy on my way to the kitchen to get a snack. "I can't either, and I know mom would be proud of you for all the work you've done to prepare for this and for taking care of the farm." Amy said as she started dinner. "Thanks for all your help with finding me a dress and managing the farm." I said as I sat at the table with an apple in my hand " no problem little sis"she answered "well I should go see Carmel and the herd since I've been busy with everything I haven't been able to go see them" I said as I walked to the door "OK just be back by dinner" Amy said as she put a pot of noodles on the stove "I will" I said as I left.

I went out to the fields and found the herd grazing and greeted Carmel and the rest of the herd and checked on peach and her cult. When I got back Ty was there waiting for me "hey Hailey" Ty said as I walked to the gate "hey Ty" I said with a smile "I haven't seen you really since Monday after I asked you to the dance" Ty said and opened the gate for me. "Well I've been busy getting ready for the dance that I had hardly any extra time for anything else sorry" I said with a sad smile "it's fine now let's go eat Amy sent me to come get you" Ty said with a smile "ok , I am kinda hungry." I said smiling back as Ty caught up with me.

"So I heard you asked Hailey to the town dance Ty" grandpa said as we ate dinner "yes I did and I am glad I did, who knows who would of asked her if I didn't, for all I know she could of gone with a prince or something" Ty said as he looked at me, I looked away to hide the redness of my face from him"well I'm just glad that she has someone who cares about her as much as me and Amy do" grandpa said to Ty and my face grew even hotter. After dinner me and Ty cleared the table and I went to my room to get ready for bed. "Hailey can I come in?" Ty said as he knocked on my door "sure come on in" I said from my desk "what are you drawing?" Ty asked looking over my shoulder at what I was drawing "it's a picture of Carmel and the herd I sketched a few weeks ago" "it's beautiful" he said with a smile"thanks it was really hard to get the colors and the details right but it turned out great" I said as I turned to look at Ty "I think so to" Ty said as he pushed a piece of hair out of my face and smiled. My heart skipped a beat at his touch and my face grew hot as looked into his beautiful blue gray eyes.

After me and Ty finished talking he left and I went to bed. The next morning I went to see Carmel, went for a ride then went home to get ready for the dance. "You look absolutely beautiful" Amy said when she finished my makeup "thanks I hope Ty thinks so" I said nervously "of course he will" Amy said with a smile "now stay up here till I call you ok" Amy said as she walked to the door "ok but why?" I asked "you need to make a good entrance to surprise Ty" Amy said "OK?" "Fine what every you say" I said sarcastically.

Amy went down stairs and after about twenty minutes she called me down and standing there looking up at me was Ty. "Hailey you look beautiful" Ty said as he walked up the stairs and grabbed my hand "thanks" I said as my face grew hotter and hotter. "Well you better get going" Amy said with a smile "wait I need a picture to remember this day" grandpa said as he walked in with the camera "ok but make it quick they can't be late" Amy said "say cheese" grandpa said before the camera flashed. "Ok now go or you'll be late" Amy said as she pushed me and Ty out the door. Me and Ty got there just in time for the dance. They were playing some up beat music and lots of people were dancing.

After about an hour they started to play slow songs. I was sitting with Ty at a table in the corner eating some finger sandwiches. "Do you want to dance?" Ty asked me with his hand held out to me "I don't know how to dance" I answered "don't worry I'll be there every step of the way" Ty said with a smile rolling my eyes at his terrable pun and took his hand. When we got to the dance floor Ty pulled me close to him and put his hands on my waist "put your hands around my shoulders" Ty instructed "OK now what?" I asked "now just follow me, ok?" Ty said "OK" I said hesitantly. As the music played me and Ty danced across the floor. I laid my head on Ty's chest and he layed his on mine and held me closer.
