Chapter 33

Hailey

" you remember when Peach and the foal had gone missing and everyone thought they had been killed by the Mountain lion?" I asked, Ty nodded but didn't interrupt me "well when I ran away after Amy told me she was selling the ranch, I had ran so far into the woods that I had no idea where I was so I continued to walk. Soon I came upon a meadow hidden in the forest and untouched my humans." I looked up at Ty. He smiled reassuringly telling me to go on. "when I entered the meadow there, peacefully grazing, were Peach and her foal, Nexus. I was so awestruck that I couldn't move. I called for peach and at first she seemed afraid and angered by my presence. But once she got a whiff of my sent she relaxed and came over to me" I turned my gaze to Nexus who was still sleeping. "that's where I had stayed for I believe a week. Then one day I woke up and Peach and Nexus weren't with me." tears began to leak out of my eyes as I recalled that day and all the days after that. Ty placed a hand over mine trying to comfort me. I took a deep steadying breath then continued.

 "so I went out to look for them in the meadow. Before I could find them someone hit me in the back of the head and I ended up in the warehouse. James, the man in charge,told me when I woke up that he had separated Peach and Nexus." "But at his age Nexus would die within days" Ty said. I nodded " I know but he didn't care he knew that if he was gonna sell Peach people couldn't know she had a foal so he wanted to kill him off so he starved him and used it as a way to torture me. I had thought that Nexus was dead before I was even rescued." I looked back at Nexus " and every last bit of hope I had had been shattered when I had a nightmare about Peach crying over Nexus as he lay on the floor dead then James appeared and took Peach." "what makes you think he's alive?" Ty asked and I nodded to the sleeping form. "is that why you looked so upset when Amy told us about the horse that was coming?" "yep, like I said I did lose all hope, and when Amy told us about the the horse coming and how he was I wanted to help him as much as I could. I had no idea it would be Nexus" I finished. 

Ty stared at me for a minute then said "I'm sorry." I looked over to Nexus "its not your fault" I said. I moved my chair closer to Ty's and laid my head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around me and we sat there watching Nexus.

An hour passed before we went back inside. When we did Amy was almost done cooking diner. 'how long had I been out there?' I thought. "hey guys, hows the Nexus?" Amy asked "good" I said "how do you know the his name?" Ty asked "I told her" "so is that what you wanted to talk to her about?" I nodded "ok" he said.  "whats for diner Amy?" I asked "chicken" "sounds good" "hey why don't you help me" she asked "umm sure" I said looking at Ty confused. He shrugged then walked to the living room.

I turned around to find Amy watching me with a suspicious look. "what?" I asked "so are you gonna tell me about you and Ty?" she asked "what are you talking about?" "really, don't play dumb, why haven't you told me you and Ty?" "I'm not playing dumb I really don't know what your talking about" "really Hailey,  you didn't think to tell me you and Ty made up and are finally dating?" "no and we aren't dating, at least not yet" "well you should of still told me" "alright, now what do you want me to help with?" "nothing you suck at cooking just sit there" she said turning back to the stove.
