Me and Ty continued to look for the missing horses as the wind picked up and it started to pour " Hailey" Ty yelled over the wind " we should of been back by now and the storm is almost over us we need to head back!"
"No, I won't give up tell I find peach and the others" I answered
"Hailey please you wont be able to find them if ...." Ty was cut off by a loud crack and the sound of lightning hitting a tree then before I knew it I was thrown off blue and hit the ground hard and the last thing I saw was blue running away and Ty jumping from Griffin with a terrified expression on his face, then every thing went black.
Ty
"Hailey please you wont be able to find them if ...." Was all I could say before a big lightning bolt hit a tree close by and Hailey was thrown from blue and hit the ground. I jumped off Griffin and ran to Hailey, "Hailey, Hailey?!" I said as I tried to wake her up but to no avail so with tears in my eyes and my mind swimming I slowly and carefully lifted her up and laid her on Griffin's back then I sat behind her and held her tight to she wouldn't fall and road Griffin as fast as I could without hurting Hailey to the house and out of the storm.
When I got to the house I slowed Griffin to a walk and tied him to the front porch grabed Hailey and ran inside " Hailey's hurt!" I yelled through the house and ran into the living room. I laid her on the couch just as her grandpa and Amy came running in " what happened?!" Mr. Jones , Hailey and Amy's grandpa, asked a worried look on his face " blue was startled by lightning hitting a tree and he threw her I tried to wake her but she didnt respond" "alright Amy call the doctor, Ty can you carry her to her room please" he said and I nodded and picked Hailey up off the couch and headed up stairs " be careful" Amy called up to me as I carried her sisters limp body in my arms. " yes she was thrown off a horse and won't wake up, ok please hurry" I heard Amy's worried voice say as I entered Hailey's room and laid her on the bed I pulled the cover over her and sat on the the edge of the bed I stared at her unconscious form and tears started to flow down my face and I squeezed her cold hand.
"What why?" I asked after Amy told me what the doctor said "because the storm is to dangerous to travel through so he said he'll be here as soon as he can tomorrow" Amy answered "then what are we supposed to do until then huh" I asked sarcastically "Ty stop I know your worried we all are but its no time for hysterics we're lucky the doctor is even coming" Mr. Jones stated "now since Ty you can't go home you can stay in my room I'll stay up and take care of Hailey am I clear?" he asked so when nobody answered he said " alright then eveyone to bed" and so we did. I stayed up the majority of the night worried about Hailey but then sleep finally found me and I fell into a restless sleep.
The next morning was sunny and warm Amy was in the kitchen making breakfast and Mr.Jones was still with Hailey. I went out to the barn and checked on Carmel and did my chores then I went in and ate breakfast Amy sat at one end of the table Mr.Jones sat at the other and I sat in between them we ate in silence all our heads swimming with worrying thoughts. When everyone was finished Amy washed the dishes and Mr.Jones when to take a shower and I went and did Hailey's moring chores so she didn't have too much work to do when she woke up. "She has a concussion and a couple of broken ribs other then that she seem fine to me" Dr.miller stated packing his instruments into his bag "how long do you think until she wakes up?" I asked from my place in the corner of the room " that depends on how much damage the fall did to her brain, it could take days even weeks" he answered "well, thank you very much doc and here's your pay for coming." Mr.Jones said handing the doctor some cash "thank you and have a nice day" Dr miller said as he left. " ok so now what?" Amy asked "what do we do now just sit and wait for her to come to?" "No we continue to work a take care of the farm like nothing is wrong and keep an eye on her" Mr.jones said standing up from his chair next to Hailey's bed " Ty can you take Griffin out and look for blue and later we will all go looking for the missing horses, got it?" "Yes sir" I said and we all walked out the door.
After lunch I went and checked on Hailey then we all went out to look for the three missing horses. We searched until dinner then went back to the house Amy made dinner, Mr.Jones set the table and I went and sat in Hailey's room for a bit. "I sure hope you wake up soon" I said quietly "the farm just isn't the same without you, its quiet and boring" after about 30 minutes of sitting with hailey and "talking" to her amy called me for dinner. After dinner I washed up and went home "please call me if she wakes up" I asked Amy and Mr.Jones on my way out the door "of course you'll be the first person we'll call" Amy said reassuringly I nodded and went home.
