Chapter 44

Ty

"oh wait" Hailey said rushing over to me "yeah?" "I wanted a kiss before you left" she said smiling innocently. I gave her a sly smile in return "really? I thought you weren't like other girls?" She glared at me "ok, ok fine" I laughed leaning down and placing a kiss on her lips.

I pulled back but she held on to my shirt. I playfully glared at her and she let go. I left and went to feed the horses.

I opened the feed room door and pulled out the bag oats. I went around filling feed buckets. When I got to Nexus's old stall I found him still laying there. 'we need to do something for him' I walked in and pulled a blanket over him then left.

I finished feeding and went back inside for breakfast.

"Morning Ty" Jacob said when I got in the door "morning sir" "you get the feeding done?" "Yes sir" "good." 

I sat next to Hailey and Amy handed me a plate with food. After Amy sat down we prayed and started eating. 

"so Ty?" Jacob asked "where did you take Hailey yesterday?" I was startled by the question "um I took her to a cliff I went to when I was a kid." "is that so, well then what did you go there for?" 

I looked over at Hailey nervously. She nodded so I continued "well I've been wanting to ask Hailey to be my girlfriend for a while. And I thought we were already but apparently not. I over heard her and Amy talking the other day Amy about how Amy thought we were dating, but Hailey said we weren't. That's when it hit me that Hailey didn't think we were dating so I wanted to officially ask her so I asked her to go for a drive and took her out to the cliff."

"well that's nice, Hailey what did you say?" Jacob looked at Hailey with a questioning look. I was so nervous, I knew Jacob liked me but I didn't know if he thought I was good enough for his granddaughter. "of course I said yes" Hailey said  "why wouldn't I." 

Hailey smiled up at me and took my hand. "he's the best thing to ever happen to me." I gave her hand a quick squeeze as I stared into her eye.  "well it's about time you two got together, I thought I would die before it happened" Jacob said laughing breaking me and Hailey from our trance.

We finished eating then split up to do our daily chores. Since Hailey didn't have anything to do she came out with me. "so how are the horses?" she asked from the doorway of the stall I was cleaning. "good, Caramel is all healed and there hasn't been any other attacks since then" "That's good, how's patches?"

I paused for a second "good I guess" I said before continuing my work. I don't know what it is about that horse but I feel like there is some sort of connection between us but I've never gotten close enough to test it. 

"what do you mean?" "I've never been near him really" "why? don't you have to feed him?" "yeah but he stays in a separate field, away from the other horses and isn't brought in at night" "why?" "no one can get close enough to him too and Jacob said he isn't good with other horses" "that is true but why can't you get near him?" "I don't know Jacob just said not to go near him, that you are the only one he'll let close to him." 

"well did you try to get to know him?" 'what, what does she mean by that, Jacob said that Patches was dangerous and not to get near him.' "what do you mean?" "I mean have you tried to go see him?" 'what does she mean, I've went and stood outside the paddock but never went inside.' "no not really, unless standing at the fence counts" "well then why not try?" 'is she crazy?'
