Chapter 37

Ty

After lunch I was washing dishes and Hailey was sitting at the table waiting. I had figured out what Hailey meant when she was talking with Amy yesterday. I honestly felt really dumb for not knowing it sooner but it is what it is. After I realized Hailey wanted me to actually ask her out I was trying to figure out where and how I would do it. Then the rain came and it hit me.

"Hey, Hailey" "yeah?" "so. I was thinking how about we go for a drive since we never really go anywhere" "sure that sounds fun."  "great we'll go after I'm done" "I figured that" "don't get smart" "I wasn't" "what ever."

After I finished the dishes Hailey and I got our boot on and left. But not before telling Amy where we were going. "hey Amy Ty and I are going for a drive" Hailey said "alright, don't be gone too long" "ok." After "asking permission" we left.

We drove for about an hour out in complete silence. We were driving down a dirt road. The rain was gone for now and I hoped it didn't stay gone for long. "where are we going?" "somewhere" "that doesn't tell me where" "its a surprise." I could feel Hailey glaring at me but I didn't want to tell her where we were going.

We drove for another ten minutes before I pulled off the road. "uh Ty where are we going and why are you going off road?" "I told you it's a surprise" "ok but I still want to know why we going off road." "why, are you scared?" I said smirking "no, I'm just curious"  "good" "well since you won't tell me where we're going, can you tell me how long until we get there?"

 I pulled up under a tree and turned off the truck. "we're here" "really just some trees and a muddy dirt road? yeah that's a great surprise" Hailey said sarcastically "this isn't the surprise, this is just the end of the drive. The surprise is through the trees." "really?" "yep, now are you ready?" I said holding out my hand for Hailey to take. She looked at my outstretched hand the up at my face suspiciously. then took my hand and walked up next to me. I smiled down at her and started walking into the trees.

We walked for a few minutes and when I noticed the trees start to thin I stopped. "why'd you stop?" "I just wanted build the suspense" "for what?" I didn't answer just started walking again. 

When we reached the location I heard Hailey gasp next to me. We stood on a cliff over looking a lake surrounded by a Forrest. I looked down at her smiling "its beautiful" she said looking up at me "I know, come on." I pulled Hailey to the edge of the cliff and sat down, legs hanging off the edge. I patted the spot next to me and she sat down.

I moved closer and put my arm around Hailey and she leaned in, laying her head on my shoulder.

We sat there silently, admiring the view enjoying each other's company.

A couple minutes passed before Hailey broke the silence. "so, why did you bring me here?" she asked looking up at me but not pulling away. Remembering the reason we were here, my heart rate picked up and I stood. "uh" I looked down at Hailey, who had stood to, and she looked at me questioningly. "I..I" I stuttered, I saw Hailey smirk but she hid it quickly. I took a deep breath steadying myself. "Hailey, I brought you here to ask you..." I paused nerves fraying "yes."

My eyes shot  up to Hailey's "what?" "I said yes" "but you don't even know what I was asking" "yes I do, you want to know if I would be your girlfriend, and I'm saying yes." My eyes went wide and I stared at her. Then I smiled widely and pulled her close kissing her.
