Ty

I was repairing the fence on one of the front pastures when Amy came running out. When she reached me she was out of breath "Hey Amy whats up?" I asked "Hailey" she wheezed "what about her" I said becoming slightly worried "passed. out." As soon as the words left her mouth I was running to the house. I ran in and Hailey was sprawled out on the floor unconscious. I dropped to my knees at her side.

Amy come in a minute later. She came and stood behind me. "What happened?" I asked "I have no Idea, I was in my office when I heard a loud thump, I came running out and found Hailey on the floor" "what do you think could of happened?" "no idea" "should we call the Miller?" "I don't think so." I stood and took a step back "she needs to be in bed right now but I can't lift her" Amy said. My heart skipped at her words knowing Hailey wouldn't like it if I touched her without her knowing. Amy looked at me, "do you think you could carrier her to her room?" she asked. I nodded.

I scooped Hailey up bridal style and carefully carried her up to her room. I laid her on the bed and pulled the covers over her. I looked down at her, I knew she didn't want me around even if she didn't want to admit it. 'stop it Ty, you have no idea what she does or doesn't want' my conscience said 'your just scared.' I shook the thoughts from my head and went back out to finish repairing the fence.

When I finished the fence, I found myself standing outside Patches pen. He was standing in the same spot he had been when I first got there. He just stood there not moving. "what are you thinking?"I thought out loud.

I stood outside Patches pen just watching him. I feel like he was watching me too. When I head the sound of tires on gravel I knew Jacob was home. I saw the truck coming up the drive so I headed back to the house. I was at the house by the time Jacob parked the truck and got out. "hey Ty I see you got some work done" he said walking over to me "yeah, I fixed the fence, mucked the stalls, and swiped the barn." "good well, I have to get all this stuff in to Amy, can you start bringing in the horses? I'll be out as soon as I'm done" "sure." Jacob nodded and walked inside. I headed to the barn and opened the gate to a herding pen that was connected to the large pasture. I put my hand to my lips and whistled one long note. The sound of thundering hoofs came almost immediately. I could see Caramel coming over the ridge with the rest of the small herd. After finding out that there was a mountain lion in the area, Jacob began bringing in the horses at night.

Once  the the horses were in the pen I closed the gate. Grabbing a lead line and halter off the fence I began leading the horses one by one to their stalls. When Jacob came out there was only four horses left in the pen. "well done Ty it looks like you don't even need my help" he said coming into the barn "thanks" "well once you done getting those last four in your done, I'll do the evening feeding" "what about Patches? shouldn't come in?" "oh no no one is going in there, not until hes trained, now finish getting those horses in and don't worry about Patches." I nodded and Jacob walked out.
