Chapter 19

Ty

I sat in front of Hailey's room for hours. Not moving from my seat. As I sat there I kept reminding myself 'soon, you'll see her soon, just wait.' I waited and waited. after about three hours of waiting Amy finally came out. A relived smile on her face. I stood and she waved me in. Her and Jacob left. I stood there for a minute listening to the constant beeping of the machines that were all attached to Hailey. Then I walked over and sat in a chair next to the bed. I leaned forward and grabbed her hand. I was cold but not dead cold. she looked terrible. Blood covered her face and hair. Seeing her like this infuriated me. 'how dare they hurt her' I thought. 

I sat there holding Hailey's hand. I didn't know when I fell asleep, but when I woke up Amy was sitting in another chair next to me and Jacob was on the the other side. They were both asleep. I pulled out my phone.I had ten missed calls from mom and seventeen texts. 'crap I forgot to tell her what happened' I stood. My back stiff from sleeping in the chair, and walked out into the hall. I went to my contacts and clicked on moms. I hit the call button and held the phone to my ear. It rang twice before she answered "where are and why haven't answered any of my calls or messages?" she asked panicked "sorry I'm at the hospital with Amy and Jacob" "what why what happened?" "Hailey was shot" "WHAT?!?! is she ok what happened?" "don't you remember I told you she went missing and then we got a letter, from this lady who was trying to get Amy to sell the ranch, saying that they had Hailey and if Amy didn't give them the deed they would sell her for trafficking or kill her" "oh right well is she ok?" "yeah, the bullet didn't damage anything important but she had to have surgery to have it taken out. Shes sleeping right now but I don't know if she really is just sleeping or what but shes fine" "alright, sorry for bothering you I was just worried" "its fine" " what time will you be home?" "I don't know some time around 12 most likely" "ok, love you" "love you too."Mom hung up the phone and I walked back into the room. Amy and Jacob were still asleep. I sat back in my chair listening to the machines beep.

Nothing else really happened after mom called. Amy told me that the doctor said that Hailey was in a trauma induced coma and that they didn't know when she would wake up but that she would wake up. Which was a relief. At 1 I went home. Mom was at work so I just went to bed I needed the sleep anyway. I hadn't slept much over the time we were looking for Hailey.

I was awake when mom got home at 10. "hey honey, how was your day?" she asked walking into the living room where I was watching TV. "good" "what time did you get home?" "1" "alright, did you eat dinner?" "no" "well what do you want to eat?" I shrugged "well how bout we go out to eat?" "ok" "well then go get dressed" "alright." I went up stairs and changed into some clean jeans and a nice shirt then went back down stair and me and mom left.
