Hailey
We sat in the waiting room for almost an hour, filling out papers and waiting for the doctor to come in. There wasn't very many people in the room but the ones who were made it well know as to why they were there.
One man kept screaming out in horror "they're coming, they're coming. RUN!!" every couple minutes. Another person kept messing with the blinds trying to line up and space them perfectly and every time even one person so much as scratched their nose they had to scrub their hands.
'why do I need to be here' I thought to myself 'I nothing like these people. Am I ?' I felt the tears start to well up in my eyes, fighting them back I turned to watch TV finding the show some what interesting.
When the woman finally called me in more people seemed to show up and I was glad to leave. She lead us to a small room with two small windows, a chair, a bench, and a wicker basket that I assumed was full of toys.
"please have a seat and the doctor will be here shortly" the lady said walking out and closing the door behind her. Amy sat down on the bench and leaned against the wall, I remained standing and began pacing the room. Amy watched me concerned "Hailey why don't you come sit?" I just shook my head and continued to pace. "Hailey whats wrong?" "nothing" "there has to be something wrong or you wouldn't be pacing" "would you believe me if I said that I need to stretch my legs?" I said with a small smile "nope, now tell me whats wrong."
I stopped pacing and sat down with a sigh. "I'm not really sure what's wrong" "well you seem nervous to me" "I'm not nervous so much as terrified" "why?" tears started to prick my eyes and I angrily wiped them away. "oh baby, whats wrong why are you scared?" "I'm scared I'm gonna end up like the people in the lobby" I said shaking from holding in my sobs "honey, your nothing like them, they have permanent mental illnesses that they can't control" "and so do I" "no you don't" "really then what is going with me that you think I need to come here?" "Hailey calm down your fine, I brought you here cuz I'm worried your mind might be affected by your experiences that's why" "what like I have some sort of PTSD or something?"
Amy nodded solemnly "but how do you know?" "Your panic attacks, you've never had one ever and now you've had 3 or 4 in the past couple weeks I did this just to see if it's true." I dropped my head and stared at the floor. The tears stopped but my fear and anxiety flared up and I was having a bit of a hard time fighting back an attack.
After a couple minutes a man in a grayish blue button down and khakis came in. "Hello my name is Dr.Michelle" he said looking between me and Amy "and I assume you're Hailey?" He asked looking at me. I nodded and went back to counting floor tiles "so that makes you Amy" "yes sir" "its nice to meet you and I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to ask you to leave" "what no" I said jumping up from my seat "Hailey sit down, its fine" Amy said standing "no he cant do that." Panic started setting in and I fought against it."Hailey calm down you'll be fine" "are you sure?" "Yes and if you need me I'll be right out that door" "ok" "good now sit and relax." After I sat down Amy smiled and left.
"Now lets get started with tell me about yourself. Where do you go to school?" "I take online school" I said coldly "Well do you like it?" "Its school" "ok then what do you do after your work?" "Work on my family's ranch" "oh really what do you do?" "Train and rehabilitate abused and abandoned horses" "wow that's amazing for someone of your age" "not when you've done it practicly your whole life" "your whole life?" "Yep" "how old where you when you started" "none of your business."
"Hailey, I understand that you don't want to talk but you are here because your sister believes you have some mental illness and I am determined to find out what it is" "well good luck with that."
