Chapter 52

Ty

I walked up stairs and went to Hailey's room. I checked the handle just in case, it was locked, so I began to feel around the wall. Hailey had told me that she had a key to her room hidden in a compartment hidden in the wall. She told me I was the only person who knew about and I was glad, but she refused to tell me how she got the compartment installed. "Aha, found it." I pushed on the wall and a tiny door popped popped open. I snatched the key out and unlocked her door, knocking before I entered.

When I walked in it was dark, absolutely no light anywhere, I found Hailey curled up on her bed sleeping. I smiled despite myself, she's so cute when she's sleeping. Then, like my thoughts had waken her, Hailey jumped up and looked at me terrified.

"Wha...what ar...are yo...you doin...g here?" She stuttered "how did you get in?" My smile fell, the pain and fear in her voice hurt me. "Hailey" I said taking a step closer "no, stay away, I don't want to hurt you again." I took another step "Hailey, it's ok you didn't hurt me" "yes I did, now go before I hurt you again." Seeing her like this, huddled in the corner of her bed tears filling her eye in fear she might just go into an attack and hurt me, it was more painful then anything.

I walk to the edge of the bed and sat down. "Hailey listen to me, none of this is your fault" she watched me as I spoke but didn't move or say anything. "Hailey, none of this is your fault its Mallory's and James's fault." Hailey flinched at the names but I could tell she was understanding what I was trying to do, she moved closer so I continued "Hailey don't beat yourself up over the things that they caused, even if they didnt cause it directly. I know you dont want to talk so I'm not gonna make you, but I'm not leaving. I know you need someone to help you through this so I'm staying here so you aren't alone" I could see the tears welling up in he eyes. I smiled inside knowing I had been the one she let in, even if only a little. "Hailey. I'm here for you,we all are and we are all worried about. And I understand if you don't want to talk bu...." I was interupted by Hailey jumping into my arms giving me a big hug. Tears soaked my shirt, "shhhh" I said rubbing her back "its ok" "I'm sorry" she sobbed "I'm so sorry for punching you" "it's ok" "I was so scared you would hate me" I pulled Hailey from me, she looked terrified and hurt "dont say things like that!" I pulled her close again and spoke softly "I love you no matter what, and I'm going to help you get through this."

We sat there for a few minutes in silence not wanting to ruin the moment then quietly I spoke "Hailey?" "Hmm?" "You think you could come down stairs?" She looked up at me, I could see the fear in her eyes but she nodded and stood. I smiled and we walked down stairs together.

"Hailey!?!" Amy said jumping from her seat. She rushed forward and hugged Hailey. After a long hug amy pulled back but held Hailey at arms length "how are you doing?" "Fine." Amy then looked to me "how did you get her to listen and come out?" "I didnt try forcing her to listen or anything. I went in and talked, told her what was happening and all that. She made the choice to listen" I said smiling "huh? Never mind I'm just glad you got her out" Amy said taking Bailey's hand "so Hailey are you hungry?" Hailey nodded and let Amy lead her to a chair, she sat then looked over at me a question in her eyes. I smiled and went to sit next to her. "Here eat" Amy said handing Hailey a plate of food"if your still hungry I can make you something else" "thanks."  Hailey finished quickly then went to put her plate in the sink "are you done?" Amy asked, she nodded and walked back to her seat, after washing the plate. Amy stared at her for a minute before sitting in front of her "so" she said "how are you doing?" Hailey ignored her. I took Hailey's hand as encouragement she didn't look up from the table but she squeezed my hand and did it back. "Hailey?" Amy said worriedly "Hailey please don't ignore me" still nothing "Hailey, did I do something? If I did please tell me" Hailey shook her head "you didn't do anything"  "then why wont you talk to me then?" she shrugged "what do you mean?" I could tell Hailey was getting irritated "I don't know, I just don't feel like talking"  she said standing up and stomping off to her room.
