A Country Girl.

Chapter 13

As I stared out scene before me happy and relieved tears began to fall. I walked slowly down the hill and headed toward peach. "peach?" I questioned, I didn't know if she would remember me since shes been gone for so long. She raised her head and looked at me. At first she seemed frightened by my presence and she nickered, but then she caught my sent on the wind and came over to me and nuzzled her nose into my shoulder. "I missed you too" I said hugging her. when she pulled away I noticed the foul standing behind her hiding from me. "hello, you might not remember me but I took care of you" I said to the frightened little creature. I held my hand out for him to smell. He looked to his mother for confirmation on if he should get near me. Peach just dropped her head and began to eat again. He turned back to me and walked closer pushing his velvety  nose into my hand. "that's it, see I'm not here to hurt you" I said petting his soft nose "now what are we gonna name you?" I thought for a minute looking at his coat and how he acted, he was energetic and liked to run and he had a golden blond coat like Caramel and Peach. "hmmm, how does Nexus sound" I asked, he just looked at me, "Nexus it is."

I didn't know how long I'd been gone but I knew it was longer then I've ever been gone. I also didn't know if Amy had already sold the ranch or if they were even looking for me, but I didn't care I was happy here. I was happy running and playing with Nexus and riding Peach through the meadow at full speed with the wind in my hair. I was happy, at first, but after a couple days I began to miss the herd and Amy and papa even if Amy sold the ranch. one day took Peach to try and find my was back but it was no use I had never gone this far and I couldn't remember what way I came. I was lost. I didn't know if anyone was even looking for me and if they were they would never find me here. Peach looked content at staying here but I wanted to go home. Even if it wasn't my home anymore. I wanted to see caramel and brush her mane and ride through the open fields of the ranch. I wanted to train more horses. I wanted to see Ty.

On the night of what I believe was Friday, I sat under a tree with Peach and Nexus thinking about how I was going to get home and what if no one found me and I never got out of the forest. I thought back to what I said to Amy before I left. At that moment the guilt and regret began to form and tears began to escape my eyes. "I'm sorry, Amy" I said and I sat there crying. At some point I had fallen asleep, and I woke up to the sun shining on my face. I looked out into the meadow and felt the tears welling up behind my eyes but I held them back. I looked around and noticed peach and Nexus were gone. 'they must of went out to graze' I thought. I stood up and stretched. I walked out into the morning "Peach!" I called "Nexus." I waited a minute, but neither one came running. I walked farther into the meadow looking for Peach and Nexus but neither were in sight. "no" I said tears threatening to break loose "I just found you." I continued to walk calling their names but still no pounding hoofs or golden tails blowing in the wind. Then I heard foot steps coming up behind me. Before I could turn around I was hit in the head with something and the world went black.
