Ty

When Monday came around Amy had already left It was a four hour drive to the location. I argued with her for day trying to get her to take me with her but she still said no. She trusted them to stick to their word, but I didn't. "How do you know she isn't dead already?" I said that night "I don't but I know they will keep their word, they want the deed just as much as we want Hailey so they won't hurt her if they know I have the deed" she argued "but you don't know if they even have her she could be anywhere right now" "exactly." We continued to argue but Amy was stubborn just like Hailey so I knew I wouldn't win so I quit trying. but that didn't mean that I was going to let her handle this alone.

Just before Amy left I called the police and gave them the address telling them what Malory wrote in the note. They said they would send some officers up there before Amy left so they would get there just before she did. After Amy left I told Jacob that I was gonna go home. I jumped in the truck. I pulled out my phone and typed in the address, then I left to go help save Hailey.

As I drove I thought about what Amy would say or do when she found out I call the police AND followed her (even if I didn't really follow her). I immediately stopped thinking about that turning my thoughts to Hailey. 'will she wan't too see me or will she just yell at me to go away and never come back?' I didn't know what her reaction would be but as long as I get to see that she's ok that's all that matters.

Three hours into my drive I get a call from Amy. My heart stops when I answer. "Hailey's been shot!!"she cries in to the phone I immediately pull over and turn the truck off. "what?!?!" I say "shes been shot, when I got here the medics were just carrying her out on the stretcher, she wasn't moving." "their rushing her to Memorial Herman Greater Heights hospital now and I'm going with, how fast do you think you can get her?" she asked trying to stop crying. Tears were running down my face as I spoke " I can be there in an hour" "alright, see you then bye" "bye." I hung up the phone.  I sat there. not knowing what to do. the words 'she's been shot' playing over and over in my mind. I fell apart. I cried "NOOOOO" I screamed punching the dash.

After a couple minutes I had calmed down a bit. I started the truck and pulled onto the road. tears still streamed down my face as I drove.

When I got to the hospital Amy was there waiting for me. She had tear stains on her cheeks and I knew I did to. "how is she?" I asked when I reached the spot Amy was standing. "shes in surgery now, the doctor said that the bullet missed anything important but since they didn't see and exit wound they had to do surgery to get the bullet out." New tears began to flow as she talked. I walked forward and wrapped my arms around her. She hugged me back crying again. Tears began to leak out of my eyes too.

When Jacob got to the hospital a couple hours later Amy and I had stopped crying and were sitting in the waiting room by the front door. Jacob came running in "how is she, is she ok, where is my granddaughter?" he asked the woman at the reception desk. Amy stood and walked over to him. "Granddad Hailey's fine she just got out of surgery an hour ago" she said leading him over to where I was sitting "have you been able to see her yet?" he asked "no, they said we couldn't until they knew she was stable" I answered "ok" he sighed sitting down.

Another hour later the  doctor came out of the room. "you can see her now" he said. we all stood. "not you" he said pointing to me "family only." I wanted to kill him. I growled lunging for the man. Amy held me back "Its ok Ty you will get to see her just not now" she said. I didn't answer I just sat in the chair and stared at the door. Amy and Jacob walked in, the door closing behind them.
