One Shots: Maui x Moana

Lionized Part 2

Moana's P.O.V.

"What?" I ask Maui.

"Is it just me or does it look like the Princess and Prince are in love?" He asks me. I look over at Kiara and Kovu. They're laughing and enjoying one another's company. I smile and nod my head.

"I thought so. Well this is great! We can unite the prides and make it into a bigger pride!" Says Maui. I see sadness in his eyes. I frown slightly and then an idea comes to mind.

"Come with me. I want you to meet someone." I say with a small smile.

"Lead the way." He says.

I smile and we walk to my favorite spot in the Pridelands.

"A tree?" He asks me with a quirked brow.

"This is not just any ordinary tree! This is the Tree of Life. Its where our royal healer and wisest animal lives." I say.

"Really?! Who is he?" He asks. I look up.

"Hey Rafiki? I need some advice!" I call out. We hear humming and I smile.

"How can I help you?" He asks. Maui looks at him and then at me.

"A baboon?" He asks. Rafiki laughs.

"Come here my boy! I have a secret to tell you. Asante sana squash banana, wewe nugu mimi hapana!" He chants.

"What is that supposed to mean?!" Maui demands.

"It means you are a baboon and I'm not!" He say laughing. I laugh with Rafiki.

"I think your confused." He says with a frown.

"WRONG! I'm not the one who is confused! You are!" Rafiki says poking Maui in the nose.

"But, I'm a lion! Your a baboon." He says. Rafiki smiles and nods his head.

"Ahh my dear boy, you are confused about how you feel, not on who or what you are." He says wisely. Maui looks down and I lick Rafiki's face.

"Thank you, my dearest friend." I say. He hugs me and climbs back up the tree.

"I'm not confused! And I am most certainly NOT a baboon!" He says. I sit and watch him pace back and forth.

"Maui, if your not confused then how do you feel about the Pride's becoming one?" I ask. He stops and looks at me. He smiles.

"I'm happy if Kovu is happy." He says.

"I'm just confused on how I feel towards a certain lioness." He says.

"Oh...do you want to talk about it?" I ask. He looks at me and sits down.

"I get this weird feeling in my stomach and feel really happy around her." He says. I nod my head.

"The confused feels upendi for the girl." I hear Rafiki say.

"Gah! Where did you come from?!" Maui says.

"I live here. But besides the point, what you feel is upendi! Ha, Ha! You see?! Who's the baboon now?" Rafiki says slyly.

"You are." He grumbles. I giggle as Maui grunts in frustration.

"My dear boy, I'll tell you somet'ing. Upendi is a special feeling you feel in your heart for someone else. Its a powerful t'ing. It can either leave you happy in the world or sad. But you won't know how your heart feels until you confess to the girl."

"Hey Moana?" Maui asks me.

"Yes?" I say. Maui takes a step forward and places a paw on mine.

"Thanks for listening to me." He says. I smile.

"Anytime." I say. He removes his paw and I can't help feel a little sad. He walks backs and turns his head facing. A mischievous but excited shimmer in his eyes

"Can you meet me here tonight?" He asks me. I nod my head and he smiles. I rush up and walk with Maui silently.

Later That Night...

I sneak out quietly and quickly as possible. I leave Pride Rock and head to the Tree of Life. As I walk to the tree, I take in my surroundings. Everything is so different in the daylight. I sit infront of the tree and wait.

"Maui?" I call out. No sound reaches my ears and I frown sadly. Soon I hear a rustling. I smile as a voice reaches my ears.

"Maui?" I say hopefully.

"Just a minute." He says. He pops out and has a lily in his mouth. I smile.

"Is that for me?" I ask. Maui walks over and places it behind my ear. I smile and he smiles back.

"Beautiful." He says. I smile.

"What's this about?" I ask. Maui takes a step forward and I can't believe what he does next.

He licks my cheek and whispers "Upendi." He says. I look at him and smile. I rub my muzzel with his and purr very softly. We stayed like that for a moment. We pull back I lick his cheek.

"Moana, I know we just met the other day and I don't know how it happened but I grew to like you. Really like you. And I understand if you say no but when the time is right I would like it if you came back to the Eastern Lands with me when the lands grow healthy once more." He says.

I smile and nod my head. He smiles and we rub muzzles once more. As we pull back I hear rustling in the tree.

"I know your up there! You can't scare me this time!" Maui shouts. I hear humming and gasp.

"Um Maui, I think he surprised you already." I say. He looks behind him. There Rafiki lies on his back casually playing with his tail.

"What the-?! How?!" He asks me.

I just shake my head and he sighs. "Alright, you win." He says. Rafiki chuckles and hops off of Maui's back.

"Thank you."Maui says. Rafiki nods his head and I Iick his cheek.

"Goodnight my friend." I say. He hugs me once more.

"Goodnight my dear." He says.

We chuckle and head back to Pride Rock. As we near the entrance of the cave I stop and look at Maui. He faces me and I nuzzle his cheek.

"Goodnight." He whispers. Love fills his eyes and I can't help but feel my heart skip two beats.

"Goodnight." I whisper back. We enter the cave and I make way to my parents. I lie next to my Dad and watch Maui creep his way to Queen Nea and Prince Kovu. He lies down and closes his eyes. I slowly close my eyes and smile.
