One Shots: Maui x Moana

The Suitors Part 6

Moana's P.O.V

"Moana! Psst! Moana!" I hear. I groan.

"Wake up Curly!" I hear. I look up and shoot Maui a death glare.

"Maui?! What are you doing here?!' I hiss. He smiles and places a kiss on my forehead.

"I'm here to take you on our first part of our day together." He says. I give him a death look but I sigh.

"I need a minute." I say. He nods and leaves me alone. I sigh and I get up. I stretch my arms and quickly brush my hair. I walk out my hut and Maui is waiting.

"Alright! Why did you wake me up at the buttcrack of dawn?" I ask tiredly. He offers a hand and I cautiously accept it. He pulls me gently and we walk to the mountain where the Chief's placed their stones.

"This...this is what I wanted to show you." He says as he turns me around. I gasp and slowly smile. The sunrises and I see my village start to shine in the sunlight.  I look Maui and he is smiling.

"Maui...its so beautiful." I say.

He takes my hands into his.

"I've seen something more beautiful. And nothing will ever change my mind." He says. I lean in closer to Maui and he does the same.

"Is that so?" I ask. He smiles and nods his head. I smile and I sigh.

"Why else did you bring me here?" I ask. He grabs my hand and we walk over to a picnic breakfast.

"You did all of this?" I say.

"Yeah...I did." He says as he kicks a pebble away.

"Well I think its very romantic." I say. Maui looks at me and smiles.

"It's not too cheesy?" He asks. I smile as I walk over and grab his hand.

"Come on! We have to eat and then get ready for the competition." I say. We walk over and we eat fresh fruit and the we hike down to practice.

"I need to change! I'll be right back!" I say. Maui nods and I rush back to my hut. I change into a red flower crown and my grass skirt. I put on both red hibiscus bracelets and anklets. I throw on a little makeup also.

Then I walk back to the shore and I see two figures. Its Maui and Iokua. I walk up and see that they are in a heated argument.

"What's the big idea? Can't come up with your own ideas! I took Moana on a hike!" Shouts Iokua.

"Hey! I only took her to see the view! I'm not stealing anybody's idea!" Maui says. Iokua raises a fist and so does Maui.

"STOP IT!" I shout. The two look at me.

"I AM NOT AN OBJECT NOR A PRIZE TO BE WON!" I shout.

I storm back to my hut and I start to play with my hair. Then I hear a knock on the door.

"WHAT?!" I shout.

"Moana...it's me. Can I come in?" I hear Maui ask. I hesitate then I answer.

"Come in." I say. Maui walks in and sits next to me.

"Listen. I don't think your an object or a prize to be won. I see you as a beautiful woman." He says. I look at him and smile.

"Really?" I ask.

"Yes really. Please stop crying." He says.

"I'm crying?" I ask.

"Yes...you are." He says. I feel my cheeks and I am crying.

"I didn't know I was that upset." I say. Maui looks at me and nods.

"Is my make up smudge?" I ask.

"Make up? Why on Earth would you want to hide your natural beauty Moana?" Maui asks.

"Huh? Well I saw the other girls put on some and they looked pretty and so I thought I...would put some on to look pretty too." I say.

"Moana I want you listen to me." Maui says sternly. I look at him as feel tears dribble down my chin.

"Don't ever think you need to do something like put on make up or dress up like other girls to look pretty. Your the most beautiful woman I've ever seen." He says.

"What about Poliʻahu?" I ask.

"You're more beautiful in my eyes." He says. I smile and Maui reaches out to my face. I stiffen and he wipes away the tears.

"Thank you." I say. He smiles and places a small kiss on my cheek.

"You're welcome. Now clean up and wash away all that make up. I love your natural beauty." He says as he leaves. I hop to my feet and wash my face. Then I rush past Maui as I run to the beach. Maui must have saw me because he runs up to me. He eyes me up and down and nods with a smile.

"Much better. Now come on! Your going to be late." He says as he nods to the stage.

I hear my father welcome everyone and I smile as he says let the single girls dance...begin. Ten of us walk out and we start to dance the same dance. We dance until the music stops and everyone cheers. We all bow and then we walk backstage. Maui is smiling and we wait for a few minutes. Then my dad says let the dancing with a partner begin. We walk out and every guy starts to place a hand on a girls waist. When I feel Maui's slide on my waist I feel tiny volts of electricity run through my body.

We dance to the rhythm but I feel it's just me and Maui alone on our late night beach dances. We dance until the music comes to an end. We walk off the stage and wait for the results.

"Everyone please come to the stage." I hear an elder say. We walk out and all of us are holding our breath.

"The third place winner for the girls single Makia!" I hear. I clap as she is awarded with a flower crown.

"In second place... Moana!" I smile as I am awarded. Everyone claps.

"And in first place is...Landina!" I hear.

We clap and our winner is awarded.

"Now for the partners. In third place... Aouli and his partner Kalea!" I hear. We clap as the winners are awarded.

"In second place...Honi and his partner Kalani!" I hear. We clap and the winners are awarded.

"And in first place...Maui and Moana!" I smile and look at Maui who is smiling as bright as me. We are awarded and everyone claps. We all leave the stage and we sit down to a feast.

I sneak out in the middle of the celebration and walk on the beach. I sit down and let my feet touch the water.

"It was all you who made us won." I hear. I look over my shoulder and smile at Maui. He smiles back and I pat a spot next to me. He walks over and sits next to me.

"Thank you...for dancing with me." I say as I move a strand of hair out of my face. He nods and we look at the open ocean.

"Well...I hope you choose the perfect suitor." He says. I look at him and smile.

"I will." I say. Maui ruffels my hair and I giggle.

"Hey Curly?" Maui says. I look at him.

"Thank you...for choosing me as your dance partner." Maui says. I smile and nod. We say nothing until Maui gets up to leave.

"Goodnight Moana." He says as he places a kiss on my cheek.
