Moana's P.O.V
"Who are you?!" I ask/command. He looks at me and smirks.
"I'm a helper. I help spirits see the light and feel at peace." He says.
"You still didn't answer my question." I say.
"Waibel. Maui Waibel." He says. I stare at him. He looks so familiar!
"Come with me." I say as I turn and start to walk.
"Why?" He asks.
"Do you want to help Arin or no?" I ask. He looks at me and rushes up to me. We walk into the bookstore and I grab my laptop.
I log in and pull up a website. I type in Arin's name. My computer pings.. "Here he is!" I say. I click the link.
"Let's see...he was in college. He has no remaining family." I read out loud.
"How did he die?" Maui asks.
"I'm looking, I'm looking...oh! He died in a car crash by running into a tree. It was in GreenWood State park. The police say it was an accident and the car lost control." I say.
"That's sad." Maui says.
"We need to head to the park." I say. Maui nods and I grab my keys. I close the store and hop into my car. Maui hops in the passenger seat. I drive to the Park and pay in. We drive slowly. We park and I see some police tape that was left behind. We walk down the path. We look around.
"There!" Maui says. I look and see a tree that is in bad condition. We rush up and stand there.
"Wow." I say. Maui says nothing.
"Maui?" I say. He's frozen solid.
"Hey!" I say. I snap my fingers in front of his face. He soon starts to fall forward.
"WOAH!" I shout.
He soon groans and falls to his knees. I kneel next to him.
"Hey! Are you ok?" I ask. He looks up at me and nods.
"Happens when I get visions of how the person died." He explains.
"Could you tell me what you saw?" I ask.
"It was Arin. He was driving home from a friends house. He was listening to music. Then a black car came after him...he took action and swerved out of the way. He swung too hard that the car lost control...he flipped over three times before hitting the tree." He explains.
I nod and Maui gets up. I walk up to the tree and feel the trunk.
"Arin? Are you here?" I ask.
"I really am dead...aren't I?" We hear. I turn and see Arin. He's completely normal without blood.
"Yes...I'm sorry." I say.
"I-I remember the driver. It was a woman. She was crying." He says. I look at Maui and he shrugs. "I-I saw a baby and we were about to crash!" Arin says.
"So you took action and died...to let the baby live." I say. Arin nods. Arin looks at me and smiles.
"Don't cry." He says.
"Huh?".
"Um you are crying." Maui says.
I feel my cheeks and they are wet. I wipe my face.
"Arin I have a question." Maui says.
"What?" Arin asks.
"Did you recognize the woman? Or remember what she looked like?" Maui asks. Arin looks at the road and then back at the tree.
"She had long brownish black hair and a white blouse I think. That's all I can remember." Arin says.
"My coworker Melinda has a sister. She has a three month baby!" I say.
"That must be her!" Maui says. I look at Arin and he smiles.
"Arin...can you see the light?" I ask.
He looks over my shoulder.
"Mom...she's telling me to go with her." He says.
"Go. Its where you belong." Maui says. He smiles so brightly I could of mistaking him for being alive.
"Thank you. And tell the woman I forgive her." He says. I nod. He walks forward and so disappears. I look at Maui and he smirks.
"Wanna get a coffee?" He asks.
"You're paying." I tease. He smiles and chuckles. His eyes shine and he holds out an arm.
"Let's go...helper." He jokes. I laugh and take his arm. I know this is just the beginning.
