Song is My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up) By Fallout Boy

Moana's P.O.V.

I walk downtown and find the place I was looking for. The Kinai Community Center. I walk in and I see the person I'm looking for. His back is facing me and another man is talking to him. But I can tell who it is I'm looking for. It's my hero for MMA Fighting. At the age of 22 he was titled The Youngest Samoan MMA Fighter on the island of Kauai. His name...

"Maui Kinai!" I say loudly. The fighter turns around looks up at me. The older man looks at me and Maui cocks a brow. He is exactly like his photos. He stands up straight and he walks over to me. He stands in front of me with his arms crossed over his chest. I clear my throat and stand my ground.

"I am Moana Waialiki! You will train me and make me the next UFC champion as my coach! I will keep on returning to this center repeating my order until you fufil it!" I say with a firm nod. Maui looks at me unimpressed. I wait not backing down. He then smirks.

"I'll tell you this kid, that was impressive but no." He said enthusiastically at first but then falls flat. My jaw falls to the floor.

"Why not?!" I ask.

"I don't fight and I don't train wanna be fighters." He says as he turns around. He starts to walk away and I follow behind him.

"Please! I need you to train me!" I say.

"No." He says.

"I'm a good fighter! I just need tips and pointers! That's what a coach does!" I say.

"No.".

I stop and frown.

"I made a promise!" I shout. That stops Maui in his tracks. The older gentleman looks at me surprised. He flinches and looks at Maui.

"I promised my gramma that I would be in a professional fighting ring and have my hero train before she died. I intend to keep this promise!" I say firmly. Maui stands there for a second and then he sighs. He looks at me and walks up to me. He peers into my eyes and I keep mine firm.

"One fight?" He asks.

"Just one professional fight! That's all and you won't even remember me afterwards!" I say. I hold out a hand. He looks at it suspiciously.

"No backouts or changes after we shake!" He said. I nod. He grabs my hand and we shake.

"Thank you! You won't regret this!" I say. Maui sighs.

"I hope not." He says. We walk over to the punching bag. "Do you have proper tape?" He asks.

"Tape? Oh! Yes! Yes in my bag! I'll go get it!" I say. I rush and grab my bag. I get the tape out and Maui is out in the middle of the floor. I walk over to him but stop. He removes his sweatshirt and underneath is a white tank top. His biceps bulge and all the tattoos are very real and very intricate. It's no wonder why he was voted 'Best Athlete in America'. I swallow and take a deep breath in and out. I calm down and regroup my thoughts.  I walk over to him and he is wrapping his hands. He looks at me with a quirked brow.

"You do know how to wrap properly right?" He askes. I nod and started wrapping my hands. I'm halfway with my left hand when I see two large hands grabbing mine. I look up and gasp. Maui is basically standing so close to me that I can smell his faint cologne. He shakes his head and sighs.

"Watch and learn!" He says firmly. No words can come out of my mouth so I nod. He holds my small hand in his large one and loops the tape around my thumb and it behind my hand. He works down to my wrist and then finishes by wrapping it around my knuckles for extra padding. He looks at me and holds my hand up.

"Just like that!" He says. I nod. He quirks a small half smirk.

"Now show me." He says. I nod and do the exact same technique he just did. He smirks.

"Good! Now, put your hair up and get into the center of the mat. We'll spar and go from there." He says as he walks away.

"S-sp-spar?!" I sputter. He looks at me confused.

"You do know what sparring is, right?" He askes quizzically.

"Yes but you want me to spar with you!?" I ask. He nods. I swallow thickly and put my hair up in a bun. Maui then passes head gear and I put it on. Movement catches my eye. I look to see the older gentleman from before walk over and sit on the bench as he watches us closely. I walk over to the mat and Maui looks at me.

"Ready?" He askes.

"Ready as I'll ever be." I say. Maui nods and we start to move in a circle. I make the first move and jab at Maui. Maui avoids it easily. I try again and Maui avoids once again.

"You gotta try harder than that kid!" He says. He then hooks his left hand and I blocked it just in time. He jabs at me and I blocked to late and result in with a slight hit to the head. As he recovers and back kick him with my left foot and hit his core. He stumbles back a little. He looks at me a little surprised.

"Nice move kid!" He says. I smirk this time. I try to roundhouse and he avoids quickly. He knees me in my thigh as I try to regain my balance. I stumble forward but snap kick his right side. He grunts at the impact. He then side kicks me and the ball of his foot hits the back of my knee. I stumble forward and Maui finishes by back kicking me in my lower back and I fall forward. I pant heavily and I hear Maui panting very faintly.

I turn over and Maui smiles a half smile. He offers a hand and I accept it. He pulls me up and I regain my balance. I take off the head gear and hand it back to Maui. He takes it and soon clapping echo's the walls. We look to see the older man is clapping slowly. He approaches us and has a smile on his mouth.

"Good job for going up against a champion. Your technique exactly reminds me of Maui here when he was a rookie." The man says as he nods to Maui.

"Thank you sir." I say. He smiles and looks at Maui.

"This is Tulli, my coach." Maui says. I shake Tulli's hand. Tulli is an older man. He's a mix of Samoan and African American. His hair is pure white and deep wrinkles define his mouth and eyes. His eye are a dark brown. He's taller than me but shorter than Maui. His smile is bright and friendly.

"Nice to meet you sir. I'm Moana" I say. He nods. He then looks at Maui.

"Help her with her jab and hooking. Then her side kick." Tulli says. Maui looks at me and smirks.

"I was just thinking of doing that." He says. Tulli smiles and then turns.

"I'll be in the office if you need me." He says as he walks away. Maui looks at me and hands me a towel. I wipe my face and he walks over towards the boxing bag. I follow him and he looks at me.

"We'll work more tomorrow. I'll see you at eight-thrity." He says. I nod. I grab my bag and look at Maui.

"Thank you for helping me keep my promise." I say gently. He nods firmly.

"Goodnight Maui." I say.

"Night kid." He says. I take my leave and walk home. I hope into the shower and eat. I head to bed setting my alarm. As I close my eyes I smile.

"I'll make you proud Gramma." I whisper to the air as I drift into a heavy sleep.
