One Shots: Maui x Moana

The Suitors Part 5

Moana's P.O.V

I wake up to a knock on the door. I fix my hair and I open the door.

"Oh! Ioane!" I say. He holds up a bouquet of flowers to me.

"T-these are for you Moana." He says shyly.

"Thank you." I say as I grab the flowers.

"I-I was thinking that we could spend the day at the beach. I-If you want too that is." He says.

"Sure!" I say. I place my flowers in a basket.  We walk down to the beach to see people hanging up decorations.

"What's going on?" I ask.

"I don't know. Let's ask your father!" Ioane says. I nod and we walk over to my father.

"What's going on dad?" I ask.

"Did you forget? We're having the dance competition tomorrow tonight." He says. I slap my hand on my head. "Of course." I say. I've been training. Duh!

"Moana? Shall we go?" I hear Ioane ask.

"Oh yes!" I say.

We walk on the shoreline and I see many of the village girls practicing. I smile and Ioane looks at them.

"What are they doing?" Ioane asks. "They're practicing." I say.

"Oh! Well are you joining?" He asks.

"Yes. I am." I say.

"Shouldn't you be practicing too?" He asks.

"Well yes but I made a promise to spend the day with my suitor who which is you!" I say.

"W-well I would like to see you dance!" Ionae stutters.

"Oh! Um ok." I say. We walk over to the girls and I start to dance with them. Then the girls walk over to the guys and they start dancing together. I smile and think of Maui and I dancing together. Alone.

"Would you like to dance with me Ioane?" I ask. He looks at me and shakes his head.

"I'm not really much of a dancer." He says. Then I hear a voice.

"Hello Ioane. Moana." Iokepa says. Maui is right behind him.

"Hey." Maui says.

"Hi." I say as I give a little wave.

"We saw- well Maui noticed you practicing so we decided to come over and say hi." Iokepa says.

"Oh. Well I was practicing and I need a dance partner. I asked Ioane but he says he doesn't dance." I say with a smile.

"I would help you but I can't dance either." Iokepa says with a shrug. Then a dancer girl comes over.

"The Chief needs you." She says pointing to the two brothers.

Ioane looks at me and I smile.

"Go on." I say. He nods and both the brothers leave. Maui and I are left.

"I'll practice with you Moana...if you'd like that is." Maui says. I smile and he smiles back. He offers a hand and I accept it. I face my back to Maui and he places his hand on my waist. We start to dance. We dance for about ten minutes and then we parted. Maui opened his mouth until a the dancers come over to us.

"You guys are so good! I'm jealous." I hear a girl say.

"Where did you learn to dance like that?!" I hear. I'm swarmed by so many people until Maui shouts

"QUIET!". Everyone stops talking.

"We just practiced. Nothing special now shoo!" He says. Everyone murmerd and walks away.
