Kate felt her heart beat with nervousness as she reached Nate's office. How Nate's reaction would be she didn't know. What if he ignored her completely still being so mad at her or maybe not showing himself and trying to hide from her. What would she do now? It was the risk she was willing to take just to make things all right between Nate and her. She had to lower her pride this time or lose Nate altogether.
She dressed herself carefully made sure she was a knock out. In a fitted fuchsia pink shift that showed of all her curves. An oval neckline that slightly revealed the contours of her breasts and a slit that reached up to her upper ankles. She looked smart and sexy at the same time. How could Nate resist not forgiving her. She also went on overdrive by bringing Nate a dozen red roses. Beautiful rose bud ones that he could display at work. And the biggest block of the I'M SORRY chocolate he would ever see. That's how sorry she was for hurting his feelings. Kate aimed to soften and melt his heart.
Sach's and Taylor was a prestigious Law firm judging from the well dressed people coming in and out of the place. It was only the second time she had been around Nate's office and yet she felt intimidated. There were also a number of pretty girls coming out of the office looking her way seemingly curious. But she tried to appear confident. One guy in particular looked familiar to her with blond hair smiling at her as he approached.
Hi, Can I help you with something ? You seem lost. He grinned at her
Kate found herself blushing. She indeed looked lost like a nervous little girl.
That's what she got for hurting Nate. She had to come to him and do all these things.
Right, I am lost. Maybe you can help me. I'm looking for Nate Porter.
He grinned. You're in luck. Nate happens to be my partner and good buddy. He's inside actually. I'll have him come out. You're?
Kate Peterson. She replied.
Mark Costner. He replied back still smiling he extended out his hand. He gave her the once over appreciatively. As if he was truly happy she came.
You can wait for him by the lounge chairs. I'll go get Nate. He'll be so happy to see you, he's been so grumpy lately. And I know this time, why. Can't say I can blame him. He laughed. He also looked at the dozen roses she had in her arm. Looking even more thrilled.
Really? Kate had to laugh too. So, this was his buddy. He had heard about him from Nate's stories and he did seem like a friendly kind of guy. Kate's hands were cold and clammy. She just hoped that Nate was receptive enough to forgive her.
Kate felt uptight as she sat in their comfortable sofa. But she decided after a few minutes it was better for her to stand she felt more in control of herself. She hoped Nate would love the dozen roses she brought and the chocolates. Throughout their friendship it was the first time she had done this. If they had petty fights, it was usually Nate who apologized first even if she was in the wrong. She always had pride. But this time it was different she had hurt Nate so much and this time she had to come to him or lose him completely.

Mark Costner was excited as he went to Nate's cubicle. He found him engrossed in the document he was typing. He didn't even look up when he came in.
Boy. Do I have a surprise for you. His friend grinned nudging him
Nate grunted, he was up to the neck with work. He was not in the mood for pranks from Mark or surprises for that matter. No matter the compliments of Connelly, Nate was drowning in work and he wasn't happy about it. He had deadlines to make and follow.
