Kate looked at the car window trying to ease her frayed nerves. This was the day she was having anxieties about for days. Today was meet Ryan's parent's day. No matter the assurances of Ryan she still was having difficulty calming her nerves. What if they didn't like her? What if they were snobbish filthy rich people who would look down on her? Maybe there were nice because they were his parents but to other people were they different. Those thoughts nagged at her unaware of the conversation she and Ryan were having. She didn't hear a word he said just nodding and acknowledging but not really understanding what he was saying.

The only consolation was that Nate was there. Her best friend who had to make the greatest sacrifice for her. Nate was also another worry for her. She could only feel a thrill course through her as she pictured Nate. How strikingly handsome he was tonight in his tux framing his lean solid built against his broad shoulders. His dark hair sleek back making him all man andstill retaining his boyish quality. His ocean blue eyes were intense. Sexy even. It was a tuxedo affair. He even had to rent one just to abide by the rules.

But it was his expression that killed Kate. He was very serious when he arrived at her house even more so when Ryan arrived to fetch her watching Ryan link his arm possessively below her waist and kissing her fervently in front of Nate. He looked away his face devoid of any emotion. But she knew how he felt seeing his knuckles harden at his sides and the grinding of his jaw. His eyes met hers briefly trying his best to smile but the pain was evident in his eyes. How it hurt her to have Nate contend with their intimacy together.

She sighed out loud instead. Noticing Nate's jeep trailing not far behind. Everything was too damn complicated.

What was that sigh all about? Ryan said and grinned. Hope it's not about me. As I intend to make you happy all night.

Just nervous I guess as I've been rattling about it for days on end. I wonder how you put up with me.

Ryan laughed. C'mon it's a natural feeling. I was so nervous too when I first went to your place. Not to mention the fact was that your mom hated me. When I tried to shake her hand she ignored me. Remember?

Kate had to laugh too. Sorry about that. You know how mom is sometimes she was just probably testing you. But you've passed the test with flying colours. See how much she loves you now. She said holding his hand.

I guess. He said quietly. But not maybe as much as she loves your best friend. Ryan said looking at her wanting to see her reaction.

Oh Ryan. You know Nate and I have been best friends since high school. Even his mother and my mother are friends so naturally she has a soft spot for Nate.

So that does that mean she likes me too? He asked looking uncertain like a little kid. You know I feel like as if I'm in Nate's shadow. No matter what I do. He admitted with a tired sigh.

I hope you will never feel that way. Honestly you've won her over Ryan Montgomery. I know my mother. And I love you that's what's important. As I'll do also my ever best to make sure your parents will like me too. She said as she kissed him by the lips.

Ummm. I love this part. And you don't need to impress anyone just be your natural self and they love you already. Ryan said kissing her back his lips soft and searching.

I hope they'll like me Ryan. she said feeling again the nervousness appear. What if they don't? What will happen? She bit her lip then.

Stop worrying my little worry wart. They will love you. That's definite and again the most important thing. This guy that's me he grinned pointing to himself which made Kate giggle. Love's you with all his got and whatever his parents think means nothing at all to him.
