Kate could only feel jittery about this night. It was the day of reckoning. Of revealing all that things that had been kept hidden in their hearts for so many years.She felt an uptightness inside her knowing all too well what Nate would finally open uphis heart to her. She knew she can never evade him much further and deter this inevitable night without breaking his heart. She was an engaged woman now. The realization hit her clearly in the morning when Ryan called her up how ecstatic his parents were at the good news and that they had to plan their engagement party to announce to the world that they would soon be husband and wife. Instead of being on top of the world she felt a deep sadness inside her regretting at once why she had answered him instantly. She loved Ryan she knew for the goodness of his soul but to spend a whole lifetime with him that truly scared her. She knew she wasn't ready and had rushed herself way too fast. But most of all her greatest fear was hurting Nate.

She had wished with all her heart that she would never hurt him but she knew it was just wishing for the moon. She would be Mrs. Kate Montgomery very soon. Their engagement spreading like wildfire in the entire Montgomery clan as she was deluged with calls one after the other that day showing their happiness. It seemsthere was no turning back now.

Looking at Nate now as he drove, his handsome boyish face serious and intent as if he was thinking of something deep.Kate couldn't help but admirehow good looking he was that night wearing a deep navy blue coat and sky blue dress shirt that clung to his lean frame. The effect Nate had on her still consumed Kate. His tanned faceclean shaven with just a hint of stubbles making him look as sexy as hell. Nate always excited her in so many ways to his engaging dimpled smile and deep set ocean blue eyes.He was forever sweetthat nightsurprising her with a dozen red roses from a designer florist which she quickly placed on a vase by their living room. Just simply saying in a quiet voice how he wanted this night to be special for both of them. Even being thoughtful to her mother bringing for her the most luscious caramel chocolate cake straight from Betty's a very plush and expensive cake shop in Boston. This made Kate evenmore guilty not knowing how this night was going to end. It also bothered how quiet Nate was seemingly lost in his deep thoughts yet looking determined as if this time he could never be deterred in all his plans.

You're so quiet Nate, care to share what goes on in that brilliant mind of yours or maybe yet clue me in on your surprise? She smiled at him playfully trying to make light of his obvious seriousness.

He gave her a lopsided grin. Sorry for boring you my Katie just have a lot on my mind I guess. One of those earth shattering do or die things and you just don't know where your fate lies.

Kate laughed nervously trying to avert her eyes as she could meet Nate's direct gaze trying to communicate with her that this was the night that will decide all the others. The time of pouring out all his love and heart to her.

You make it sound like a life or death thing. I'm scared already. She exclaimed trying to act nonchalant and playful but he knew what Nate meant.

It will be for me. He said quietly his voice serious as he squeezed her hand and made a joke lightly. It will be in your hands my beautiful princess.

Kate could only make a face at him. First time in the history I see Nate serious. I can't believe it! Where is the old mischievous Nate anyway?

Nate laughed then. He's still here. He cried out shaking his head smiling back at her. You know I've always been serious. You should know me better Kate...especially with one beautiful girl who I've wished for all my life.

Nate could only look at Kate who was speechless and blushing furiously seeming at a loss for words. This was the night he looked forward to and dreaded at the same time. It would be a make or break for him. Finally after all these years having the guts to voice out in the open all his feelings for Kate.Blindly disregarding the consequences ofwhat harm it could do to him or their friendship. He tried to appear cool and relaxed but deep inside he was filled with so many fears. His stomach was tied up in knots. Heart beating furiously as if he just ran a marathon. He even felt cold nervousnessovercoming him.Yet some part of him felt excited at finally being ableto pour out all his love for her.
