Chapter 7

Kate was on edge as she waited for Nate to arrive. She still hadn't told him of her date and she had no idea how he would react. She knew she was being unfair telling him the last minute but she felt it was always the wrong timing. Even getting the words out of her was a hard thing for her. She glanced at herself in their living room mirror liking the mint green dress she was wearing. She also had a new haircut a layered one that framed her face making her more sophisticated at the same time retaining an innocence that guys loved. She wanted to be really beautiful for her date with Ryan Montgomery. Come to think of it even his name had a ring of wealth to it.

The doorbell rang three times interrupting her thoughts. She knew it was Nate as she checked herself again. She looked really pretty her green eyes expectant covering the worry she had deep side. She also liked her hair giving her an air of confidence which she knew she needed.

Kate found Nate by the door looking so fresh and handsome himself. His dark hair damp but arranged neatly. In his light blue chambray long sleeves and tight faded jeans that hugged his leanly muscled frame he looked really good. Blue did wonders for Nate as his ocean blue eyes looked at her appreciatively noticing her stylish cut.

Wow Kate you're hair. It's beautiful! he remarked And you're beautiful! he exclaimed. His eyes said it all liking what he saw. He was always complimenting her making her feel special.

I wanted a change. she said feeling her face flushed. Do you like it? she asked feeling a bit shy. Nate her best friend in the world who would appreciate her even if she had curlers in her hair.

Nate was all smiles as spontaneously he hugged her in the corner nook of their porch. Smelling the sweet scent of Kate.Loving her softness against him. He couldn't help but kiss her his lips tenderly grazing the nape of her neck then travelled to her cheek. His lips wanting to feel the warm lips of Kate lightly and teasingly he did seeing her close her eyes as she responded to him. It made Nate yearn for her more. That only one simple kiss from Kate could arouse everything inside him.

Kate focused feeling breathless at the effect Nate had on her but she tried to appear composed and looked at him innocently instead.

What was that for? she mused. She loved looking at Nate seeing him so happy and in a good mood. She just hated to spoil it later on.

For being as pretty as always and because I've got a raise Kate. Connelly called me awhile ago. A $500 raise! I can't believe it! You know its the first raise ever among us paralegals. Nate was so enthusiastic feeling on high as he talked none stop.

You've always been the best Nate. He probably sees how hard you work and what a great help you are to him. I'm proud of you! Kate said truly happy for him as she touched his cheek.

You'll truly make a good lawyer someday and a good looking one too. her eyes twinkled noting the mischievous look in Nate's eyes. He was up to something again.

Don't I deserve a congratulatory kiss then? he asked his blue eyes naughty but giving her his most imploring look. A look that was so hard to resist.

Please. he repeated giving her his adorable dimpled smile. One more to make my life complete. He gave her another charming convincing smile.

Alright. One more and you better behave yourself right after. You're like a kissing bandit, you like stealing kisses every now and then.

Nate grinned that naughty gleam in his eyes again.
