Chapter 54

Kate could only feel light and happy on her birthday. Even if it was just small get together among friends it was a huge success. They enjoyed the food immensely and sang their heart out in the karaoke. Even Ryan had to do his share as he tried to belt out a few of his songs. This was one category Nate didn't have a chance as he sang beautifully to her making her in awe and the rest of the gang. Realizing that he too had his surprises for her.

Ryan was the ever devoted boyfriend helping her clean up all the stuff even volunteering to wash all the dishes just to help. Her mom even taking advantage as she ordered him around here and there. Ryan thought nothing of it and was on his toes trying to please her mother every which way he could which made her realize how much he loved her.

He looked tired and sleepy as he plopped down beside her on the living room couch still with a smile on his face.

Your eyes are droopy she teased. But kind of cute droopy. She said as she kissed him on the lips.

But I get the best reward he teased back as he pulled her in his arms playfully and nibbled kisses on side of her earlobe as his lips caught hers in a tender kiss that brought a warm feeling through Kate.

It was a warm kiss but never the heart stopping kiss she experienced with Nate which sent her heart fluttering and all her insides grow weak. She always wondered why she could not ever feel this way every time Ryan kissed her not that it was a bad thing. She knew she loved him. But somehow she wanted to feel that heart stopping feeling the way she felt with Nate.

You're tired she said rubbing his back. Mom worked you to death. She said playfully.

He grinned. C'mon I'm fine. You know I'd do anything to please your mom. Actually Tim and Shelly volunteered to stay and clean up but I said I could handle it. Want you all to myself. He smiled naughtily.

Four is a crowd. Two is perfect. He added boyishly as a lock of his dark brown hair fell from his eyes. Making him more endearing to Kate.

Kate could only laugh. I think I heard that somewhere. But alone is better right? She added with laughter in his eyes.

Right you are. You absolutely read my mind my love. He said quietly.

Ryan held her close as he kissed her again memorizing the contours of her face. His fingers tenderly stroking her lips as he kissed her again and she responded with all the love and passion they had. He loved her so much far beyond than he had felt for any other girl. There was something about Kate that exhilarated him making him want to share a forever with her. She had brought so many good things in his life. The ability to stand up to his father. To get over the communication barriers they had. Kate was instrumental to all of it. She had push him hard giving him the strength inside him to have a heart to heart talk with his dad.What a good relationship he had with his father now. There was so many things she wanted to explore with her loving her intellect and maturity. The mischief in her eyes and how playful she was. Everything. Ryan could not ask for anything more. Even how much his parents loved her was all he had ever wished and hoped for.

He looked at her now with all the love he felt. He was nervous as hell even feeling a tremble inside him. Feeling perspiration on his forehead. Now was the time to bring out his heart to her and ask her to be his wife. He was about to go down on his knees and propose when Kate looked alarmed holding her ear.

I missed my earring Ryan. It was just here a while ago. She touched her ears looking at her dress trying to check if it had just fallen.

My mom gave it and it has a sentimental value to me. She exclaimed clearly alarmed.
