Kate woke up feeling really lazy. All her thoughts was still on the kiss Nate gave her the other night. It was not a friendly kiss but a kiss of a guy in love and was just suppressing himself. She found herself recalling how she responded to Nate's kisses awaking all the passion in her. Nate did that to her every time making her knees feel weak, her body turning to jelly. But Nate was just her best friend. She had known him for almost all her life. He could not possibly love her. He could have any girl he wanted. But it was in his eyes, the way he acted as if he was trying to convey something to her. Subtle ways to show how he felt. It bothered Kate. They were friends and that's how it should remain. She could never imagine Nate to be more than that.
Her thoughts were interrupted when she could hear her mobile phone ringing. It was Shelly, her girl best friend. Their friendship dated back to their college years. One that she treasured immensely.
What are you doing today? she asked At 8:00 am she seemed bursting with energy already. She was always that way.
Nothing much just preparing later to rehearse for our presentation tomorrow and then just be lazy. She replied.
Let's go shopping. I need to buy a special dress for my date with Tim next weekend. A cross between sweet and sexy.
Kate was counting on a leisurely Sunday being lazy and daydreaming but shopping was another option even if it meant just browsing around.
Please Kate. Help me find the perfect dress. He's bringing me to this fancy restaurant Saturday and I like to look my best.
Oh alright. She finally agreed. It felt good to go malling too. We might find some bargains too.
I also have a surprise for you. She cried excitedly. She seemed so enthusiastic about it that made Kate curious.
What is it? She asked curiously. She was pretty intrigued herself. When Shelly said something it means it was special.
Tell you about it later she giggled. Pick you up at around 10:00 as she hanged up before Kate could question any further.
Kate was curious about Shelly's surprise. It was probably a new gadget she thought. She was a fanatic of new gadgets while she was just contented to have the conventional ones. But it didn't sound like a mobile phone it was something else and Kate was going to find out later.
There was a text message on her mobile phone. It was Nate. It read.
Up at 7:00 am, mopped my entire apartment. Now battling with the laundry. As an emoticon of a bear popped out struggling with all sorts of house work. Kate had to laugh at the bear emoticon.
What are you doing today? Another bear popped out smiling at her.
Going shopping with Shelly. She sent back an emoticon with a girl loaded with bags shopping to her heart's content.
A sad bear's face came out. The bear was crying. There was a text saying.
And I'm stuck here with all this work. Groan.
Kate replied back, a girl emoticon laughing delightedly. Taunting him further.
You have no mercy. The bear was scolding her. His eyes begging for some pity. Leave it to Nate to still be mischievous over the phone.
She instead sent an emoticon smiley, a really big one with a sly grin.
But the bear emoticon that Nate replied back looked wistful and resigned. And bounced back and finally smiled and blew kisses over the phone with a message from Nate.
