My Only Love

Chapter 45

The Harvard's grounds was something to behold in the evening. The variety of flowers all of different colours were all in bloom. Some even Kate had not seen at all was right before her. The lush trees its leaves slightly golden filled with little lights that sparkled in the evening. She could smell a woodsy scent that she loved to breathe. Even the breeze that touched their faces felt calming. What a wonderful university to study in and Kate was so happy Nate was a part of this prestigious school.

Looking at him now standing tall with the wind rumpling his dark hair.She could only admire how good looking he was beside her. Forever sweet holding her hand into his own. She was just relieved he was feeling much better. Play acting as her tour guide in a comedic British accent showing her every nook and cranny of Harvard as they both laughed enjoying their easy banter. The agitation he had showed earlier seemed to have disappeared showing a calm in his face that Kate couldn't help but see. What caused the anger in him she didn't know but she knew it affected him. She hoped he would open up to her. But Nate was begging for her understanding that he couldn't tell her was something she had to respect even if she was filled with concern for him.

They were beside the gazebo loving the sight of everything as they were both silent admiring the view and the flowery scents around them permeating in the cold air.

It's so beautiful here Nate. It's like a paradise of flowers. She murmured as the light breeze tousled her hair.

It is. Nate smiled back at her. I like to pass by here in the evening just right after my classes just to relax and take of the pressures of the day.

Harvard is everything I've imagined it to be even so much more. I'm so happy you're part of all of this Nate. She looked at him regarding him thoughtfully how proud she was of him of all the things he had done for himself.

I'm lucky to be here Kate. That's why I've been studying so hard to make sure to learn all I can so I can have everything I've dreamed about in the future.

And you're starting to have almost everything Nate. Seeing you up there getting those awards it moved me to tears you know. I felt like a parent seeing his son be rewarded with all his hard work.

C'mon Kate you're far from a parent. He chuckled as he gave heran engagingboyish grin. But having you there beside me is the greatest gift one that would top off all my awards.

Nate pulled her close kissing her hair gently fixing the wisps of her bangs that fell into her eyes as they just stood there together. It felt so good to be in his arms having good talk like this surrounded with all these beautiful flowers. Kate felt she was in paradise. Even Ryan was forgotten. All her focus was just on him for on his special night.

The project Nate. Why didn't tell me about it. It's beautiful what you've been doing and I had no idea.

He looked embarrassed but continued on. It's just starting small Kate just a group of ten volunteers and we go to shelters on the weekend for abused women and kids. Actually it only started with only 3 people me and the terrible two. A great help they've been to me. But it's growing even more the support and enthusiasm of everyone. We never expected the turnaround of people. We're close to 30 now and still growing. He grinned proudly.

I never expected it. It was only a wish in my head but here it is. I usually go Saturdays. We go by a bunch of 10 people in different areas and I take the worst ones. You can just imagine what a great feeling it feels like to give counsel to these kids. Play with them make their lives happy. Some of them came to the shelter with broken bones, burnt marks all over their bodies. It's heart breaking to see the abuse to these kids. But I'm just happy we're making a difference. Even to the women giving them the strength to end abusive relationships.
