The Harvard campus grounds was breath taking to see. Its landscaping even more beautiful in the evening. Just the view of its classic lamp posts and its finely sculptured landscape made Kate in awe. How prestigious it felt just to be in the campus itself. Nate was part of this world and she was truly proud of him. One that he would carry on until he became the successful lawyer he wanted to be.
Nate looked so dashing and breathtakingly handsome in his black suit as he opened his jeep's door for her with a dimpled smile on his boyish face. Kate liked him that way he can be a downright sexy man but still with glimpses of his boyish charm.
Sorry this jeep isn't a limo or a Porsche. He said looking a bit embarrassed. With you riding in it I wished it were. He continued rather wistfully.
And it would turn into a pumpkin after 12. She teased. I'll take this jeep any day. Kate said patting Nate's red jeep as it seems to purr in her hands
He took her hand in his as his eyes met hers. His eyes were shining touched with what she said. Without Nate saying it she knew he was insecure about material things. How he wished he had a better car. More luxuries in his life. But even then it didn't matter to Kate all that mattered was how Nate was. How wonderful he had always been and how good he was to her in many ways.
He laughed then as he winked at her. Wait till a few years...this humble jeep will turn into a BMW or Porsche.
Oh Nate... who needs all that. She countered. It's not all material things you know.
That's what I love about you and other things. He said quietly as he brushed away a wisp of her bangs from her eyes. Kissing her nose a habit Kate loved Nate doing. There was that undying love in his eyes again and Kate could only drown in his ocean blue eyes.
Flattery will get you nowhere. She said laughing nervously at the impact of Nate's gaze.
Oh yeah he retorted. What can I say from the bottom of my heart how beautiful and stunning you look... and I'll say it again a hundred times this evening. He said with a teasing smile
She swatted him on his arm as he chuckled as he linked her arms thorough his.
Thank you for all you're compliments. But I'm just a simple girl. She managed to say.
Not in my eyes my Katie. Nate said quietly as he adoringly looked at her. Shall we? He said. I can't wait to show you around and meet the rowdy bunch.
Kate giggled as they both laughed. Rowdy bunch?
The terrible two. Nate grinned. They're dying to meet you. They're the guys I hang around with at Harvard. They appear happy go lucky but they're one of the best Law students in class.
Next to you I presume. She said looking at him.
No one tops me. I'm the best. Joke. he said and laughed. Looking naughty and confident. The Nate she always knew and admired.
I think it's more of the truth. She countered back enjoying their banter.
He rolled his eyes. You always overestimate me. I hope I won't disappoint you. But Kate knew it was always the truth. For all Nate's unassuming and humble ways he was used to being on top of everything.
Kate felt a little nervous. She was not big on social gatherings so some part of her was uptight not knowing what to expect in the crowd. Her hands colder than the usual. Nate sensing what she was thinking knew her so well.
