SERIOUS PLAY
It's all over the news now. Headline in print outs on newsstands; newsflash in TV and radio stations. And in all news, no one can hide the tone of panic:
NO PHONE CONNECTION!
TOTAL INTERNET BLACK OUT!!
The culprit?
The Play Virus.
Some speculate that it's a work of aliens. Others think that evil spirits crossed the human world and it will be the start of war and epidemic, the end of days. Others stopped guessing and just want it to be over -fast. The mere thought of the possible cause and its aim created terror because all telecommunications companies are affected. Nobody can surf, access their social media account, call, send or receive a message anymore. Where the authorities would start their investigation, they don't know. Their system was also down and they can't figure out why. The satellite, who knows if still afloat, can't send rescue information to the world. Maybe it has fallen somewhere, who knows? An unseen barrier suddenly exists to stop what goes in or what comes out of every city and country. Without the internet and phone connection, People. Can't. Simply. Know. Everything.
The culprit is the Play Virus but no one can tell... except for the bubbly little ones giggling in their rooms.
If only each keen investigator and journalist would peek on the light of every child's room, shrugging off the notion that that could only be their TV screens from watching Kid's Channel, they would find out that in the first ever incident of total phone disconnection and internet black out, some connections are still working.
And blogging about the success they made.
Six-year-old Bubbles smiled mischievously after finishing her blog entry in her Bloggerpuff. It's her report to the Mayor and all the grownups in the world. On that day, her blog and that of her sisters-Buttercup and Blossom, and the rest of their playmates' will be the only site in the internet the people would be able to access. Next, Townsville will be a happy playground again.
She swiveled her chair and looked at her foster parents who are sitting quietly in her bed, hugging each other and cautiously watching her. Then, she gave them a toothy grin then cheerfully asked,
"Can we play now?"
