R+E - Reddie Oneshots

A d o p t i o n

A/N: This happens when Eddie and Richie adopts Petunia in "Future"  (a Reddie book saga I wrote, in order: Recovery, Rebirth, Hope, Future)

Richie's POV

We were in the dog adoption house, they had several beautiful ones with sad histories of abandonment.

A poodle caught our attention, she lay, howling.

"What happened to this one?" Eddie asked.

"This one... Her owners simply abandoned her. They were going to walk, they took her, they left her in a field. An old man, Eugene, found her while she was harvesting, he brought her to us, she was very hungry and very weak." The clerk said.

"Oh my God" Eddie said, looking at the dog and covering his mouth.

"How can a human do this?" I wondered.

"What do you think, Eds?" I said, putting my arm on his shoulder.

"It's her." He said, with tears in his eyes. "Don't worry, we'll take good care of you." He said, stroking the poodle.

"Alright, I'll get the adoption papers."

"She's so cute, look at her" Eddie said.

"Yeah, she is." I said, resting my head on his shoulder.

"If I could... I would adopt all the dogs here." He said, looking at her.

"Me too, babyboy."

"Here, sign here and here and you can take her" The clerk said, giving us the paper. "What will be the name?"

"What about 'Petunia'?" I whispered to Eddie.

"That's a beautiful name." He said. "Petunia"

"Okay, Let's make a leash with the name of Petunia for her, tomorrow you can come and get it."

"Okay."

We left the adoption house and Eddie couldn't be happier.

"Look, it's our 'family' car, we will travel a lot with this." He said, showing Petunia our car.

We got home and made a space for Petunia.

"So... We are a family now..." I said, hugging him.

"Not yet." Eddie said "in the future we will have our kids, and by there, we will be a perfect family."

"What could be the name of our family?"

"Well, I don't know, mr. Kaspbrack."

"*Smiles* I love you, Eddie."

"I love you too, Richie"
