Normal...
I don't understand that term.
What is 'Normal'?
Is it to do 'normal' things
And think 'normal' thoughts?
To lead a 'normal' life
With 'normal' people all around?
To do what's 'normally' considered fun
And eat 'normal' food?
Get 'normal' grades at school
And read 'normal' content too?
Is 'Normal' a classification?
Is it an illusion?
Does 'normal' even exist
In an abnormal, different world?
Isn't it pretty ironic
That everyone's 'Normal' is different?
That the word 'Normal' itself
Isn't a 'normal' word?
Normal isn't always called 'Normal'
And 'normal' isn't always normal
So I'll live my life as a 'normal' me
That isn't always so normal
I'll just be the individual me
In this world that's normally not normal
~
It's really ironic that after I wrote this poem, the word 'normal' itself didn't seem normal to me. The poem was drafted in pencil then rewritten in pen and then typed. That word 'normal' looked so strange that I started doubting it was even an actual word. But I knew it was so I started to think that maybe I spelt it wrong but that wasn't the case either.
What do you think is normal? What does 'normal' mean to you? Do you think anything can truly be defined as weird?
Until next time,
