Curiosity

The human mind is a curious one
And one that won't cease to be curious
Some of us are able to refrain from giving in
Even if it eats us inside.

No matter how little our interest may be
How much we say 'I don't want to know'
We know fully well our curiosity
Will make us act otherwise.

We may avoid the situation completely
Try to distract ourselves
But it will always have a part in our mind
That would've wanted to pry.

No one can say they lack this quality
For no matter how much they deny
If one were to take a sneak peek in their mind
Evidence you would surely find.

Curiosity is a human characteristic that all posses though some show it greater than others. Let's imagine it as a movie or story setting in the horror genre. Let's assume that the individual knows that they're in a horror movie. They're home alone and they're in bed when they hear a loud noise outside. What will they do?

One main character may get out of bed and go 'I wonder what that was?' before going to investigate.

Another may stay in bed with many thoughts as to what it could be. Did a small snimal knock something down? Did someone outside drop something heavy? Is it the psychopatic killer or ghost like creature finally coming to torture and kill me?

Another one might staying bed with the covers pulled, refusing to leave the bed while an intense debate between logic and irrational fear happens within their head until they fall back asleep (this has quite literally happened to me before).

Then there's the character who just made sure that they weren't even at home to hear the loud noise that could mean their inevitable death.

But, no matter the outcome and what you decided to do, a part of you might still want to find out what it was wouldn't it? It might be a quick question or wonder flash through your mind before you throw it away forever or it might be nagging at you for hours, days, weeks on end because, just WHAT was it?

Not everyone shows they're curiosity. Not everyone acts on it. But, it's definitely there. No matter how short-lived or long-term, it's there.

Do you think you can deduce how much of a curious person Katyma is based on the poem? What kind of curiosity do you think she tends to experience?

Until next time,
