Why are you still here?
Why do you still want to hold me close
When I've been pushed so far away?
Is it that you're selfish
So you trap me within your shadow
So I can never get away?
Is it that I'm just hopeful
Hoping that one day
Your ghost will set me free?
Is it that you're scared
Are you scared that without me
You'll feel alone again?
But what about me?
Who has been neglected in this love
Abandoned time and time again?
You say that you love me
You say you want what's best for me
You say you want a life with me
Yet it seems like you're only around
When you feel down
When you need that encouraging hand.
So what about me?
Do I not also need help?
Do I not have emotions of my own?
Or is it that you think
My feelings are invalid
Or that what I feel isn't raw but filtered?
Maybe we've had our good times
Maybe it could've been
If things had worked itself out
But you seem unwilling to try
Unwanting of this relationship
And undeserving of someone like me
Shouldn't you support me too?
Shouldn't you be here for me too?
Don't you love me as I love you?
On this thinning string
Only when it's about to snap
Do you try to mend what you break
I'm afraid it's too late
I've already been drained
I don't think I'll make through another feeding
I hope you do well
I hope that you learn
That love has to flow both ways
I hope that you know
I won't be that one
You'd kiss when saying wedding vows
I'll still be there with you
Right here for you
But not as the person you want
Even if I walked through that door
I won't be truly free
Unless you willingly set me free
Because if you love me...
Loved me as you said you did..
Then you'd just let me go.
