The same girl sat behind the desk and stared at me.
I looked anywhere but at her.
We were the only ones in the room.
"Do you need something?"
I asked, making her flinch a bit.
"What? Oh I'm just thinking."
I chuckle.
"Know how that is."

A cab's brakes squealed loudly outside the glass window.
The girl jerks her head to the side and her eyes widen.
Her jaw drops to her knees.
The door crashes open.
"Charlotte Lillian Spencer I swear to the good lord above!"
I jump, tensing up and considering throwing myself in a cell to escape this situation.
Addie dragged Oak by the arm over to where I was sitting.
I stood up from my chair and moved away from them.
"That's Addie Blue!"
The girl at the desk stands up too.
Addie turned to her and faked a smile.
"What do you want?"
I ask bitterly, biting on my necklace to keep from yelling more.
She gives me a wide-eyed look.
"Are you kidding me? You're in prison Charlotte!"
I shake my head.
"No. This is just the waiting room."
She grits her teeth.
I don't speak anymore.
Addie and Oak start talking to the girl, Oak turning to give me a nasty look every minute or so.
