I focus on Darren's breathing.
His chest rises and falls at a normal rate.
I sigh.
His leg twitches, causing me to jump.
"...shit"
I whispered.
Every movement from the other person on the bed jolted me back into reality.
I looked at the clock.
2:57 AM.
I sighed.
I sat up and left the bed to get ready.
I went to the closet in the corner of the room and just as I was opening the door...
Darren shot up, gasping and griping the fabric of his shirt.
I dashed back to my spot.
He stared at his legs, now uncovered and visible from his shorts.
"Darren..."
He jerked his head to the side.
I almost fell off the bed.
I was hesitant to touch him.
He was shaking violently and taking short breaths.
I held my hand out to touch him, but he jerked away.
I was hurt, but understanding.
My brain was moving to quickly.
I didn't know what to say or do.
The only thing I could do was take his hand and sit with him till it was over.
