Yeah.
Clumsy.
I rolled my eyes and stared down at my arm.
My phone buzzes.
I cringe and pick it up.
Blocked Number- Meet me beside the Richard Rodgers. Don't bring anyone else.
I stand up calmly.
At this point, I'm not even surprised anymore.
What this time?
Drug deal?
Murder?
Another fire?
I shiver and walk to the door.
"Where are you going, Charlotte?"
Darren.
Fuck.
"I'm going back to work."
His eyes widened.
"Charlotte Lillian! You just broke your arm at work! You can't just go back!"
I shrugged.
"I broke my arm not my voice. Love you see you later."
At least one of those sentences wasn't a lie.

I tapped my foot on the ground behind the stage door.
I miss this place.
I miss performing here.
But I fucked that up too.
Just like everything else.
Everything would have been better if I had...
My thoughts were interrupted by a man stepping in front of me.
"Evening Princess."
I rolled my eyes.
"What do you want? I've kinda got places to be."
He laughed.
"You and I both know you don't have friends to go places with."
I scoff.
"You met my friends. And my husband. Fuck off."
He rolled his dark eyes that resembles my own.
"Do you actually think they care about you, Charlotte? Isn't there a little voice of logic in your head that reminds you of how worthless you are?"
I hesitate.
"No."
He glances at my arm.
"What happened there? Did you 'fall' from a tree again?"
I shook my head.
"No I fell from a ladder. Your point?"
He shrugged.
"I have a proposal."
I cocked my head, seeming uninterested when in reality I was extremely curious.
"You come back to France with me and Marcus and Josie."
I scowl.
"It's Jessie. And no. I will not follow you to France ya scumbag."
He pretends to be hurt.
There is a long silence.
"You know..."
He began.
"You shouldn't lie to people. Especially people you care about...like husbands...and blonde chicks...and huge guys named after trees."
I growl like a dog.
"Why is that?"
He smirks.
"Because my dear Charlotte....."
He makes sure to get right into my face.
"Lies. Kill."
