We enter a tiny cafe after I finish getting my normal clothes on and taking the green off my face.
We laugh and joke.
A short man came to our table.
"Howdy!"
"Kurt!"
Addie and I say together, jumping from our seats to hug him.
He giggles.
"How are you guys? I heard Charlotte got a big gig at the Gershwin!"
He laughed.
I nodded.
"Wow. You're a good liar, Charlotte if even Kurt didn't see through it."
I stared at the ground.
Addie gave me a look.
"Y-Yeah. Just washed the green off in fact."
I said.
He smiled.
"Well good luck in the future. It was nice seeing you guys. See you on bowling night, Darren."
I spun on my heels to face the table.
The area exploded in laughter.
"D, you bowl?!"
I doubled over into my chair with laughter.
He rolls his eyes.
"Ha ha. Hilarious."
He mumbles, taking a breadstick and chomping on it.
I snort, looking up at him from my position in the chair.
"I love you."
He rolls his eyes again, covering his mouth with his hand to hide a smirk.

After we finish eating and talking, everyone leaves at the same time.
I yawn, running a hand through my hair.
Addie waves at me and gives me a hug before walking in the opposite direction that Darren and I are about to walk.
We let go and start to walk our separate ways.
My phone buzzes.
I cringe and reach into my pocket to answer it, but before I can, someone screams and a gunshot echoes through the air.
Darren spins around and orders me not to look and run home as fast as I can.
He dashes behind me.
I turn around and freeze.
My phone falls to the ground and I soon follow it.
Tears blur my vision.
"GET UP! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?! HELP!"
I shake my head.
I can't speak.
I can't move.
My phone screen lights up beside my face.
Blocked Number- I told you. Lies kill.
My stomach churns and I gag.
After what was only minutes but felt like years, someone picked me up bridal style and helped me in a cab.
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!"
I wince, trying to breathe normally.
Why does this always happen to me?
What did I do?
Darren grabs my hand.
"What did I do?"
I mumble.
"Where do I start?"
