Next Stage in Life

Lena: "Welcome home!"
I look at Isabel then back at my dad and Lena.
Me: "So what's going on?"
Dad: "Can you too come sit down"
Me and Isabel walk over sitting down next to each other on the couch.
Isabel: "Okay?"
Dad: "So have you guys have known, we've been dating for a while now.."
For a minute I froze, things started going through my mind, are thy taking the next step, I mean, me and Lena just started getting use to each other, we don't fight anymore, and she's gotten use to the fact about me being gay and stuff, at least I think.
Me: "Okay??."
Lena: "And it's been clear that you both seem to get along very well, right?"
We look at each other. Both shaking our head yes.
Dad: "So we've decided to take the next step in our relationship"
Me and Isabel just sit there, silent.
Lena: "We're getting married!"
Our eyes both lit up.
Isabel: "Married?"
Me: "Like husband and wife?"
Dad: "Well yes Justin, that's what marriage is"
I kind of froze, I mean I wasn't surprised, but still.
Dad: "So what do you think?"
Isabel: "I don't know, I mean if that's what you guys want"
Lena: "Okay"
Dad: "Justin?"
Me: "Yeah, um, congrats"
Dad: "Thanks"
Me: "Um, can we go, me and Isabel have this project we have to work on"
I say look at her, hinting to her.
Isabel: "Yeah, yes we do"
Dad: "Um, sure yeah, that's fine"
Me: "okay"
I say as we both get up, heading up to my room.
When we both got to my room I closed the door, and laid down on my bed.
Isabel lets out a loud sigh.
Justin: "Are you okay with all of this?"
Isabel: "Well I'm mean I don't exactly have a choice, do I? What about you."
Me: "Well I mean, it's not like much is really going to change, you guys live here, already."
Isabel: "I guess your right, but what about my mom?"
Me: "I mean we don't fight anymore, so I mean we're good, for now anyways"
Isabel: "Oh"
I just shake my head yes, looking at her.
Isabel: "You really see me as a sister?"
Me: "Um I guess, I been we act like siblings"
Isabel: "Oh okay, well I'm going to go, I have some homework."
Me: "Oh, okay, see you later"
She smiles walking out of the room.
I sit there on my bed for a while, just thinking about life, my dad, new school. A lot of things, a lot of thoughts. Then I start to think.
Before the move, me and my dad started talking about top surgery for me.
The thing is we've been here in Maryland for almost 5 months now, he hasn't brought it up.
As I thought that, my dad came through the door.
Dad: "Justin?"
Me: "Dad."
Dad: "I just wanted to talk to you"
Me: "okay.."
Dad: "Are you okay with everything?"
Me: "This whole 'getting married' thing?"
Dad: "Yeah."
Me: "I mean, I knew this might happen again someday, just didn't think it would be this soon"
Dad: "But your okay with the whole thing?"
Me: "Yeah, I mean, me and Lena are okay now, and me and Isabel have gotten really close."
Dad: "That's good."
Me: "I mean, it's not like much will change, they already live here, right?"
Dad: "Yeah, okay good, I just wanted to make sure you were good"
My dad says walking to the door.
Me: "Dad wait."
Dad: "What is it?"
Me: "I just wanted to know if we could talk more about my top surgery, not like right now, but get in the process.
Dad: "Yes, we definitely can, we will."
Me: "Thanks Dad!"
He smiled walking out the room.
I grab my phone out of my pocket, going to Instagram, I pull up a picture of me and Isabel, captioning: "Love ya lil sis💕" then tagging her.
Then I go to my messages to text Raegan, cause there was loads to tell him.
Me: *Babe!!*
He answers pretty fast.
Raegan: *Whats up, what did your dad tell you?*
Me: *Oh about that, um well my dad and Lena are getting married..*
Raegan: *Really?*
Me: *Yeah..*
Raegan: *How do you feel about that?*
Me: *Idk... I mean I don't want Lena to be my step mom, but I'm fine with Isabel*
Raegan: *Yeah, I saw your post*
Me: *Yeah, but that's not all.*
Raegan: *What else?*
Me: *My dad said that we could start talking about my top surgery again, getting back to setting it up and stuff.*
Raegan: *Aw, really?*
Me: *Yeah, I'm really excited!*
Raegan: *Aw Justin, I'm happy for you!"
Me: *Thanks.*
Raegan: *Okay well I'm going to get some homework done; I'll text you, maybe call later?*
Me: *Yeah okay, I love you!*
Raegan: *I love you too Justin.*
It all made me smile, I check back at Instagram looking at the comments.
*Who is that girl*
*You had a sister?*
*How old is she*
And many, many, more of comments along that path.
After looking at some of them I hard to the kitchen to get my computer, that's where I left it. While I past Isabel's room I hear her call my name.
Isabel: "Justin!"
I walk back standing in her door step.
Me: "Yeah?"
Isabel: "Thank you.."
Me: "For what?"
Isabel: "Like the post, calling me your sis"
Me: "No problem"
I start walking to the kitchen when an idea struck my mind, so I walk back her room.
Me: "Hey?"
Isabel: "What?"
Me: "Wanna broadcast with me?"
Isabel: "Like in front of people?"
Me: "Well that's what it is."
She looked up at me and smiled.
Isabel: "Sure!"
I walk to the kitchen to get my laptop then meet Isabel back in my room.
Isabel: "This is so exciting"
Me: "Um, sure I guess"
I set everything up, starting the broadcast.
I take my phone out.
Me: "Get in this"
I take a picture of her and me, then post it on Instagram captioning.
*Going live on younow for a bit, you should come watch*
Then my attention went back to the broadcast.
Me: "Hey guys"
The comments start filling up quick.
< Who's the girl?
< That's really your sister?
Me: "What's her? This is my sister Isabel, say hi"
Isabel: "Hey"
Me: "I'm not staying in long, I just wanted to answer your guys questions"
I look more at the comments.
Me: "How's she your sister, I thought yo just had brothers? Um well my dad and her mom are getting married, so we're step siblings I guess.
Why isn't the girl talk?"
I look at Isabel.
Me: "You can talk you know"
Isabel: "I don't really know what to say"
Me: "Where's Raegan? He's at his house"
The questions kept coming, and I continued answer them, it went on for about 15 minutes.
Me: "thanks for tipping, Okay guys, I think were going to hop off."
< Bye
< I love you
< Ily guys bye
Then I ended it.
Isabel: "That was kind of cool"
Me: "Yeah, I guess"
Isabel: "Thanks, I'm gonna go finish my homework."
Me: "Okay"
She walked out of the room, and I just sat there for a minute.
I decide to get up and take a shower. Once I got out I threw on some clothes. I went to bed early that night. I didn't have homework tonight surprisingly.
When I got up the next morning, I did the usual morning things, got dressed, did my hair. When I went down for breakfast I find my dad and Lena cooking, and Isabel sitting down at the table.
Me: "What's this?"
I say looking over at Isabel, she just shrugged her shoulders.
Lena: "Sit"
Me: "Okay..?"
I walk over talking a seat, whispering over to Isabel.
Me: "Why are they cooking?"
Isabel: "No idea"
It was then Lena came over with a pan with eggs, and starts putting some on the plate in front of us.
Me: "Since when do you guys cook us breakfast?"
Dad: "Since we're all going to be one big family."
Me: "Well I'm not that hungry"
Dad: "Well your going to eat anyways"
After my dad brought over the rest of what he made heard Lena sat down at the table.
Lena: "So how did everyone sleep"
Isabel: "Oh my gosh, look at the time"
Me: "Oh yeah, gosh we better good"
Me and Isabel get up grabbing our backpacks.
Lena: "School doesn't start for 45"
We just keep walking to the door.
Me: "Can't be late"
Isabel: "Nope not on the first week"
Dad: "Wait Justin-"
Before he could say anything we were already out the door, in the car. We drove away just in case they'd come outside. I drive a block then pull over.
Isabel: "That was weird"
Me: "Agreed, but now what?"
Isabel: "No idea"
*beep* *beep*
It wasn't my phone that off, it was Isabel's, so she checked it, she stared at her phone for 5 minutes without even looking up.
Me: "Who are you texting?"
Isabel: "Its no one"
Me: "A boy?"
She looks up at me.
Isabel: "No it's um, a friend. Which reminds me is it okay if she comes over today? I mean we'll hang out in my room"
Me: "Yeah sure, I'll probably hang out with Raegan after school anyways"
Isabel: "Okay thanks"
I start the car again and drive the rest of the way to school. We get there a little early, but we just spend that time chatting with other people that were there.
The day went by pretty fast, the only thing different is that I didn't see Charlie today, I don't know if I just didn't see him, or he wasn't here. Didn't really matter to me.
