don't listen in secret • seokmin [alternate ending]

my heart wasn't able to let it end like that so i wrote an alternate ending. this is what happens years later after seokmin left. "you" have never heard this song before.

"Wow! This place is so pretty!" Your niece said in awe. You had brought her to a very special place in the park that not many people knew about.

She went off to go play and you sat down. Looking at the calm water in the pond, you felt at peace.

Two years ago, you decided to turn over a new leaf and start brand new. You changed your appearance, made new friends and opened up your heart. You realized that there was nothing to be afraid of, if you were with the right people.

Heartbreak changes a person.

"Look at that!" Your niece pointed at the water. There were some tadpoles swimming near the rocks and she was fascinated with them.

"Be careful," you warn her, "Don't fall in!"

"This is one of my favourite places," a male voice interrupts you.

You immediately stand up and turn around.
A boy around your age and a young girl walk into the secret spot.

You make eye contact with the boy and the two of you stare at each other until the boy asked, "Y/N?"

Of course he would not recognize you right away, you had cut your hair.

You nod slowly, "Seokmin?" His hair was in a slight quiff, he had an eyebrow scratch and grew taller. He definitely changed over the years.

A smile grows on his face and he engulfs you in a hug.

Wrapping your arms around his torso, the familiar smelt of vanilla and cinnamon was still there. You never realized how much you missed his hugs.

"Oh," he pulled away from you, "I almost forgot to introduce my friend here."

The young girl beside him smiles at you, "Hi, I'm Sofia!"

You greet her back with a smile, "Hi, I'm Y/N!"

"Sofia is my friend's little sister. She loves photography so I decided to give her a tour of where I used to live. Hopefully she'll be able to take lots of photos." He explains to you as he gestures towards the camera she is holding.

"That's so cool!" You point towards the little girl behind you, "I brought my niece here since she likes going to the park."

Sofia's face lights up at the sight of a little girl. She walks over to your niece and introduces herself. The two of them walk along the rocks and take photos while giggling.

Turning back to Seokmin, he gestures for you to sit down.

The two of you sit on the cold rocks, this scene feels very familiar to you.

A slight breeze passes through the park and you bury your face into your scarf, trying to avoid the wind.

"I see that you're wearing the scarf I got you," Seokmin said happily as he noticed your scarf.

You nod, "It's nice, what can I say. So, how has your group been?"

His face lights up and you can see the passion in his eyes, "We've been doing really well. Lots of good feedback and we're all having a lot of fun. We're on a break right now so I thought it would be nice to bring the boys here. I find this place really inspiring and peaceful so it's perfect to make new music."

You nod and can't help but feel happy for him. His dream came true and he was happy in life.

"The boys and I are staying in a rental house for two months," he continues, "One of my group mates family recently moved here, so I decided to take Sofia out and show her around while her family unpacks. She also likes photography so I thought it would be a good opportunity for her to take some photos."
