Shaking her head, the girl saw that the boy ignored her second text.

Y/N sighed and began to change into appropriate clothing for skating.

The two of them have been friends ever since kindergarten. Whenever Jun would show off his newest lunchbox to the class during snack time, everyone would be in awe over it while Y/N always just rolled her eyes. Even at that young age, she saw how cocky the boy was and found him quite annoying.

Kindergarten Jun just wanted to be friends with everyone and once he saw that Y/N didn't like him very much, he tried his very best to make her like him.

He would bother her everyday and sit with her all the time. They would talk and soon enough, Y/N warmed up to Jun and saw that he wasn't that cocky. It was just the act he put up and that he was really just a boy that needed to be protected.

The two grew up side by side and were the closest friends. They knew each other inside out, well, most of the time.

Jun would also always do these spontaneous things with Y/N and didn't give much room for her to say no. Even though she never had the chance to decline his offers, the girl didn't mind going on these random adventures with the boy. She enjoyed them and she also enjoyed the feeling she always got whenever she hung out with the boy.

A text from Jun told her that he was outside of her house and ready to go.

The girl grabbed her bag, took one last look in the mirror and headed out.

"Uhhh, I don't think this was a good idea." She was standing on the ice with her knees shaking.

The rink wasn't that busy, with only a few people on the ice. The air was crisp and felt nice whenever one would take a breath. All the popular songs were playing on the overhead speakers and it brought some life into the rink.

"You're doing great!" The boy said with a smile in his voice as he skated backwards in front of her. He easily glided on the ice and moved gracefully.

"Jun, I'm barely moving." Y/N didn't know how to skate properly so her strides didn't take her very far. She was shuffling across the ice and had her arms sticking out for balance.

The Chinese boy stuck out his hands and gave her a smile, "Take my hands."

By now Y/N was used to his cheesiness, but her heart couldn't help but flutter at his words and the smile on his face. A blush flushed her cheeks and she shakily took his hands in hers.

Jun began to skate backwards faster and pull the girl along with him. She was now easily gliding across the ice and around the rink.

A smile found a way onto her face and she couldn't help but let out laughs of joy. The wind was blowing through her hair and the cold air felt so refreshing against her face.

The boy watched her laugh and her hair flow. She looked breathtakingly beautiful in that moment and Jun never wanted to forget it. Y/N was so happy and was having so much fun, he was so glad that she was there with him.

The two of them skated like that for a while. Jun skating backwards as he held onto Y/N, pulling her along with him. They tried going even faster and did silly things while skating.

Laughter filled the air and the two of them were so happy. Hearts were beating so quickly and smiles were etched onto their rosy faces.

After some time, Jun slowed down and skated towards the middle of the ice rink. He stopped in the centre and twirled Y/N around like they were ballroom dancing.

The girl twirled around and let out a giggle in the process. She was over the moon with happiness and adrenaline was pumping through her blood. Both of them were fairly cold due to the temperature inside the rink and the wind that blew against their face as they skated.

As she faced the boy, Jun's hands rested on her hips and Y/N's hands found its way to rest around his neck.

The close friends found themselves very close to one another. Their hearts were beating so quickly, they thought the other person could hear it.

Their eyes found each other and it was like in that moment, they came to a realization.

Jun's eyes widened once he realized what he was feeling every time he hung out with Y/N. Why his heart was always beating a bit faster whenever she was around him. Why he was always so eager to call and text her. Why he would always notice the small little habits she had. Why he would always think about her and smile to himself.

Y/N slightly gasped when she realized what she was feeling all this time. She never knew why she would always be so excited to hang out with him. Why she would always think about him and feel her heart beat faster. Why she would secretly hope that he would plan more spontaneous adventures for just the two of them. Why she hoped that he held her hand more often.

A wave of emotion washed over both of them and everything became crystal clear now.

They were in love.

Jun's eyes fell to the ground as a blush rose to his cheeks. He had never been in love before and didn't realize that he was head over heels for someone.

Y/N smiled at the boy's shyness and quietly said, "Hey."

The boy looked up from the ground and the two of them locked eyes.

It seemed like that was all that was needed because they seemed to understand everything without saying anything.

Years of emotions were spoken between their eyes and they knew that they felt the same way about each other.

Y/N's eyes darted to the boy's lips and back to his eyes. She thought it wasn't possible but her heart began beating even faster than before.

Being the first one to say it, Jun couldn't help but smile, "I love you, Y/N."

"I love you, Jun."

Their lips met each other and the two of them kissed. It was something sweet that was filled with so much love.

Their newly recognized burning love for each other pierced the cold air of the ice rink and warmed the two lovers up.
