RJ is two years old when his parents tell him he will be a Manong. He places his ear beside his Mama's tummy and whispers "Hello, baby."
One night, he hears shuffling in his Papa and Mama's room. His parents go to the hospital. When they come back, they are very sad. His father doesn't smile and his mother cries a long, long time.
RJ is sad too. He won't be a Manong anymore.
A few months later, he sees the neighbor's baby girl. He pinches her and she cries.
"Shhh, shhh" he begs, but she wails even louder.
He covers his face with both his hands, then opens them "Tikaaa!"
The baby stops.
He does it again, "Tikaaa."
The baby girl gurgles with laughter.
RJ is tickled pink, his dimple appears. He is happy again.
