Ilonggo Version

They go to their favorite ramen restaurant and order their usual soups - a regular for her and a spicy ramen for him.

RJ fidgets in his seat and taps his fingers on the table.

Their orders arrive.

Menggay digs right in as RJ looks at her eat...and eat.

After a while, he also digs in her bowl and looks at her noodles.

Menggay glowers at him and shoos away his chopsticks.

He motions to the waiter and murmurs, "Diin na?"

The waiter points at his ramen.

"Ahhhh, nagbaliskad."

He clears his throat.

"Menggay, ari pa isa ka bowl. Kauna man ini."

"Indi na ko. Busog-busog na guid ko."

RJ sighs, takes his chopsticks and looks for something in his ramen.

"Ano'ng napangita mo?"

"Dali lang guid. Aha!"

He fishes out Menggay's engagement ring, the one she designs for herself. The diamond stone is entwined by a swirly, white gold ramen noodle band.

RJ bends his knee.

"Menggay, dugay na ni dapat. Kadasig bi sang mga natabo sa aton. Pero kada adlaw, maski na may problema, daw kamag-an lang guid kay updanay kita. Lipay guid ko. Tani indi ka maghinulsul nga ako ang ginpili mo." 

He sobs as he adds, "Palangga ta guid ka."

He places the ring on her finger.

Menggay is teary-eyed. 

"Palangga ta man ka, RJ.  Kag ang tatlo nga ari sa tyan ko."

She thoroughly wipes her eyes with her hand.  

Her tears fall. And fall.

RJ embraces her, "Shhhh, okay na."

"Indi."

"Ha?"

He looks at her red, squinting eyes. 

"Diin ang lababo?  Kakahang!" she cries.

RJ runs the water in the restroom and washes her eyes.  

He also soaps the hand that she wipes her eyes with. 

 It has the ring that was dunked in his spicy ramen noodles.

RJ sighs, takes his chopsticks and looks for something in his ramen.

"Anon'g hinahanap mo?"

"Sandali lang. Aha!"

"Menggay, ang tagal na dapat nito. Ang bilis ng mga nangyari sa atin. Pero araw-araw, kahit na may problema, parang gumagaan kasi kasama kita. Ang saya ko. Sana huwag kang magsisi na ako ang pinili mo."

He sobs as he adds, "Mahal na mahal kita."

He places the ring on her finger.

"Mahal din kita, RJ. At itong tatlong nasa tyan ko."
