Ilonggo Version
They are sitting in the ramen restaurant and he is holding her hand. RJ finally tells Menggay that he is leaving.
His parents are separating and he decides to go with his Mama to Manila.
Menggay nods and looks down at her lap. Her eyebrows scrunch and her lower lip juts out.
"Indi na mag hibi. Ma law-ay ka karon" he says.
She glares at him.
"Wala ko labot."
She jerks her hand away but he tightens his hold.
"Basi malimtan mo ko dayon pagkahalin ko."
"Te, ano?"
"Ahay, Menggay. Indi bala mag amo na. Indi ka na mangakig."
She looks up and sees his eyes. A tear falls.
It's the first time he cries in front of her.
Menggay moves to RJ's side, puts her arms around his waist and pulls him close.
"Sorry."
He wipes his eyes.
"Wala kaso a."
His arm goes around her shoulders and he whispers,
"Lakat na ta?"
"Okay."

They are sitting at the curb outside Menggay's house. He tells her the details of his trip.
She listens as she plucks out the petals of a santan. She removes the center thread and hands it to him.
He sips.
"Namit?" she asks.
He nods.
"Tam-is."
Prince Charmeng the askal sees them through the grills and whimpers.
"Sulod ka na." RJ says.
He helps her get up and they go to the gate.
They stand facing each other.
"Sige, Menggay. Tulog na."
He swipes the hair off her face and tucks it behind her ear.
He whispers, "Good night."
Menggay reaches out and enfolds him in her arms.
He embraces her back and kisses her forehead.
"Good night, RJ."

She looks up and sees his eyes. A tear falls.

"Alis na tayo?"
