"Tikaaa" is the first word I utter when I meet her in her diapers. "Tikaaa" is the first word she says when she sneaks up on me at the airport.
Eight years after i leave sweet Bacolod for bustling Manila, I meet up with Menggay in the arrival area.
I take her bags and load it in my car.
Once inside, I ask her if she's hungry.
She is.
I smile at her before I start the engine. I have waited a long time for this day.
There's a twinkle in her eyes when she asks,
"Yes, RJ?"
"Buckle up, Ms. Maine."
