Her head is on his shoulder and her hand on his chest. She feels his heartbeat.
It is strong.
Menggay recalls the night her Nanay speaks to her about love and making the world a beautiful place. Her mother slips into a coma afterward.
Before the morning, her Nanay's body is cold, no matter how hard Menggay embraces her.
Dawn finally arrives. She looks at RJ again and touches the scar on his cheek.
He awakes with a smile and greets her good morning.
She smiles back. She finally accepts that it was the cancer that takes her Nanay away, not her words.
She lays on top of him.
"Maayong aga, akon pamanahun."
She tells him "I love you" a hundred times.
