Usually on the nights that I'm working I'll dress in my bootcut jeans, tennis shoes and a nice fitting t-shirt with my hair pulled up in a ponytail. My face stays completely natural as I don't want to attract any unwanted attention from guys who've drank too much. But tonight would be different. I wanted this attention tonight from a certain blond boy with a strange name and bright blue eyes.
I didn't know why I craved his attention so much but for some reason he had become the only thing on my mind. I knew that eventually all boys lead to trouble but my brain would only focus on the here and now and right now I wanted to know he was thinking about me as much as I was him.
I dressed as I normally do but applied a thin layer of makeup this time unlike all the nights before.
About an hour into work I was already sick of the place and ready to go. It was nearly midnight and I knew that the later it got the worse the music, the singing, and frankly the stench of alcohol would get.
"Excuse me princess but could I get a Bud," a somewhat familiar voice asked from behind me.
"Really?" I turned around wiping my hands of with a rag which I slung over my shoulder when I finish with it allowing it to stay there, "You're in the shear definition of a small Tennessee town bar and you want Budweiser?"
The man laughed shaking his head at me, "Well what do you recommend then?"
I turned grabbing a bottle then placed it and a glass in front of the man.
"How about some genuine Tennessee whiskey," before he could respond I was pouring the liquid into his cup. He took a sip and shook his head.
"Thats some powerful stuff," he said making a face that most people do when the liquor touches their lips for the first time.
"Careful there Jack," Mac said patting his back and taking a seat beside him watching the man take another sip, "Remember we still have work tomorrow."
I laughed at the two men and did my best not to stare at the youngest of the two. He still wore the same brown leather jacket as yesterday but had a different blue shirt underneath now.
"Hi Skye," he greeted with a smile. I nodded in return giving a grin back and turning around to put the alcohol back on the shelf.
"So work?" I questioned taking my rag and drying off the counter top in front of the men, "Is that what brings you two this far south?"
Jack nearly chocked on his drink before he commented, "Where exactly do you think we are from darling?"
"You? I'm not sure. Ya seem like a Texas boy..." I trailed off and he nodded, "But you-" I looked over to Mac, "You're all city boy. So I'm thinking Cali?"
"Smart one right here," Jack stated then his face scrunched up, "wait how'd you figure I was from Texas?"
"Oh," I smiled, "I know how you Texas boys are," I pointed my finger at him, "nothing but trouble."
Mac laughed before Jack could come back with anything.
"You're right Jack," he said, "she is a smart one."
"But seriously," I said turning back to my original question, "what brings you fellas down here?"
"Work," Mac nodded showing that my assumptions were correct.
"Really, where you two boys work?" I continued on acting as if I hadn't a care in the world as I cleaned things on the inside of the bar.
"A think tank in LA," blue eyes said, "we have been scouting new areas around the area looking for a good place to add new facilities."
