Mac pov.
I was pretty sure it was the fourth day by now. I couldn't say for sure but I did my best to try and keep track of when Dan would come in and that helped me to keep up with what day it was. He would come more during the middle of the day and about once in the morning and once at night. Speaking of the devil-
"Mac, Mac, Mac," he tisked shaking his head as he came in and closed the door, "Its just a simple request."
"Doesn't sound much like a request, more like a life threatening demand," I corrected him.
"Well," Dan looked at his knife, feeling the blade between his fingers, "then I suggest you corporate." He jammed the knife into the wood of the chair right above my shoulder and it took everything in me not to flinch, "I can promise you that any other decision will be very life threatening."
I laughed shaking my head at him, "I'm not afraid of you."
"Oh no," he said continuing to look me dead in the eyes while only centimeters away from my face, "you're not the person I'm referring to."
My eyes widened and in an instant I was pulling against the restraints and lunging at him. He moved much to quickly for me to get to him and just like that he was gone again.
Skye pov.
There was one major problem with it being Dan who had taken Mac; I had no idea where to find him. The whole time he lived here he stayed at a place with one of his friends and then stayed with me once we started dating.
Jack and I drove all over town searching only to come up with absolutely nothing.
"Traffic cams?" Riley asked over the phone.
"Nope. There's only one red light out here, no street lights, no traffic cams," I explained.
"Well the best I could do then was pull up a live satellite image but I don't see a blue wrangler anywhere," she said leaning into her computer screen.
"Skye," Bozer said, "there wasn't anywhere, any place Dan had?"
"Not that I know about," I huffed. This is hopeless, I mean we're screwed! Mac is screwed.
"Relax Skye," Jack looked over to me from the driver's seat, "I'm sure Mac can handle some little southern psychopath."
I shook my head, propping it on my hand while my elbow rested on the inside of the car door. I wasn't sure why Jack had such faith in the younger boy but all I saw was this skinny little brainiac and while I knew that he had mentioned his tendency to pick fights, I could not imagine blue eyes being able to take Dan in any type of way.
"Kid is tougher than he looks," Jack commented glancing over to me as if he could read my mind and once again I didn't respond. That was until we pulled back into the driveway of my house.
"What are we doing here? We already know where he's not, we need to figure out where he is," I said in frustration.
"We could just go straight to the airport if you'd like but I figured you'd like to change first and maybe pack some clothes to take along with us." I stopped and just stared at Jack clueless as to why we were heading to the airport.
"NO!" I shouted, "I'm not getting on a plane. I'm going to stay right here until I find Mac."
"Listen Princess," Jack must of grown quite fond of that name for me since he called me that on the first day we had met because that seemed to of become my permeant nickname. But even with him using that name for me, I refused to look his way. Instead I got out of the car, slamming the door behind me.
"SKYE!" Jack called after me and my angry form as I marched myself down the driveway. I'd search for Mac even if I had to walk the whole town on foot to do so, "SKYE!"
At last he ran in front of me, stopping my parade. His hands went to my upper arms and he placed a firm hand on both of them.
"We've looked all we can here and haven't found anything all day," Jack explained.
"Well maybe we missed something!" I protested back but the man only shook his head in sorrow.
"I want to find him as much as you do but there are procedures for this kind of thing."
Now I was sure of it. I'd had my suspicions before but this confirmed it.
"You don't work at a think tank do you?" I asked calming my voice from earlier. Jack took a step back away from me with his eyes wide, but he knew he'd have to give in to me.
"No," he stated and the truth was finally revealed.
"Didn't think so," I replied and turned on my heels to head back into my house.
"Where are you going?" Jack called after me still standing in his position at the end of the drive way.
"I'm going to pack," I said turning around, walking backwards now toward the house, "we have a plane to catch right?"
Jack just smirked at me then began following me into the house.
Truth be told I wasn't mad. Yes they lied to me. Yes I trusted Mac but I always knew he had this secret that he wasn't willing to share with me just yet. And I was willing to give him his time because I knew he would share it with me when the time came. That time just came a bit sooner than Mac probably could of anticipated. But I will be sure to let him know when we find him that it is alright, that I understand.
I mean, everyone has their secrets. I only hope that he will be just as understanding when he finds out mine.
