Skye pov.
I smiled watching my two boys on the carpet of the living room. My little boy was growing so fast and looking like his daddy more every day.
They both laid on their stomach on the floor. The older man looked down upon his son encouraging him to push himself up by demonstrating. The baby mostly just laughed at his father which only made me smile more.
"I don't think he's quite ready Mac," I chuckled from the couch. The blond looked up at me flipping the hair out of his eyes in the process.
"Oh he's ready, he's just stubborn like his mother," the boy smirked at me. I stuck my tongue out at him in response and we both chuckled, grinning from ear to ear. It was then that Stone had enough and was ready for a nap. His cries filled the room causing my new motherly instinct to kick in. I reach down and scooped the delicacy up in my arms and began to rock him while I made my way to the kitchen for his bottle. The second I stepped foot into the kitchen the door bell rang.
"Mac!" I called over my shoulder over the sound of the screaming child.
"Got it," he responding making his way towards the door.
I reached in the fridge to get the formula I'd mixed up ahead of time. Before I placed it into the microwave I stepped back to see who had been at the door. I turned to look just as Mac placed his hand on the door knob and pulled it open. Before he could even see who it was a loud shot filled my ears and I saw my love fall back to the ground lifeless. A shot gun shell fell to the ground and I could hear the sound of the gun being reloaded.
I screamed in disbelief at the sight before me and held my child even closer to my chest, backing away from the door. The killer came completely through the door and I got just a glimpse of his face before he aimed to gun again and pulled the trigger.
My eyes shot open and my mind was racing nearly as fast as my heart was pounding. The brightness of the room was blinding and forced me to blink a few times to adjust. I looked around noticing that it wasn't the Phoenix infirmary. My head naturally fell to my right but instead of finding a chair beside me I found another occupied bed a few feet away.
The boy in it sat upright flipping through a magazine while the television blared a football game. All of my senses came back to me then and so did the last few months and the pain in my shoulder.
"Who's winning?" I questioned through gritted teeth trying to push myself up in the bed. Brody's head snapped my way with wide eyes.
"Well look who decided to wake up," he smiled at me putting the magazine down. I smiled back but my main focus was still on my nightmare. I hadn't dreamed about Mac in months. And right now all I wanted to do was close my eyes in hopes that in my next dream Mac would be alive and smiling brightly at me. And I'd be able to hunt down that son of a bitch, Murdoc, for what he did to my family.
Two images stayed firmly in my mind from the night terror, Mac's dead body and the face of the killer looking at me, Murdoc himself. The next time I ever see his face I swear I will put him in the ground. Yes he deserves to suffer, and death is just too good for him but at this point him being dead was the best thing I could do for my family... well what use to be my family. But even though I hadn't talked to them in half a years time, that didn't mean I still didn't think about each of them everyday and wouldn't do anything and everything to keep them safe.
I swung my legs around the side of the bed and felt my body shake with weakness. When I proceeded to try and push myself up to a standing position Brody laughed bringing the magazine back up to read.
